Opinion Piece

[edit]

This is an editorial piece praising the 'Islamic Republic of Somaliland.' It is not an encyclopedia entry. I don't know if this can rewritten but I don't think it would be a bad idea to replace the whole thing. 141.166.229.162 (talk) 15:30, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've made some changes that hopefully have reduced the blatant cheering. 76.117.247.55 (talk) 06:21, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Laws and Judiciary

[edit]

Also, this article lacks nothing about 'Somaliland's' laws, legal system, and judiciary. 141.166.229.162 (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Politics and government of SomalilandPolitics of Somaliland — Government is a subsection of politics; all governmental issues are political. For this reason, the current title is redundant. Neelix (talk) 01:08, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Politics is contention for power; government is exercise of power. The distinction between political and professional gov't employees reflects the different, tho complexly interacting, spheres. (And BTW, is anyone bothering to check what we do re other countries of similar size and age?)

  • The definition of "politics" presented by Jerzy is more specific than the word normally suggests; the standard definition, according to the politics article, is inclusive of governmental issues, stating that politics consists of the "social relations involving authority or power." This is consistent with the categorization on Wikipedia: the "politics" category includes "government" as a subcategory. Also, it is standard practice on Wikipedia to create a "Politics of x" article for a country with a subsection called "Government", which, when it grows large enough, is created as its own article with the title "Government of x". There is no reason for this article to vary from established practice. Neelix (talk) 22:47, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Important notice

[edit]

The government section of the "Outline of Somaliland" needs to be checked, corrected, and completed -- especially the subsections for the government branches.

When the country outlines were created, temporary data (that matched most of the countries but not all) was used to speed up the process. Those countries for which the temporary data does not match must be replaced with the correct information.

Please check that this country's outline is not in error.

Thank you.

2010 Elections

[edit]

Can someone with perhaps a bit more time than I update this article to include information on the 2010 elections? Cheers, 75.154.119.182 (talk) 16:10, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
