Defense treaty
[edit]The methuen treaty was signed in 1703 which is accurately quoted in this article, but the defense treaty came first then came the commercial treaty.

BIBLIOGRAPHY
I have looked at an extremely good recent biography of this king who was first a regent for fifteen years. It is useful not only for D. Pedro himself but also for his brother Afonso VI and their mutual wife. Look at Maria Paula Marcal Lourenco, D. Pedro II o Pacífico (1648-1706) (Lisbon: Circule de Leitores, 2010). Probably should be mentioned
