This Article Is A Translation

[edit]

Someone on my talk page asked me to note when I create an article that is a translation, like this one. Thiagovscoelho (talk) 18:46, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Thiagovscoelho: What I think the note is referring to is the requirement for you to provide attribution for a copied and translated article when translating from other language Wikimedia projects. While I have left a Translated page template on this talk page to indicate where this article was translated from, you still need to provide an edit summary saying where you obtained the source article for the translation in the article history. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:38, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This was from Portuguese Wikipedia. I can't edit my past edit's summary, and I thought it was weird to make another edit just to have this information in an edit summary. Should I do so anyway? Thiagovscoelho (talk) 10:06, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Thiagovscoelho: That is what the instructions say. So yes, you need to provide proper attribution. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:30, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, done. Thiagovscoelho (talk) 14:17, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
