Clean up with Banknotes of Zimbabwe?

[edit]

There's too much redundancy with Banknotes of Zimbabwe. I suggest we merge the section of banknotes of the article Zimbabwean dollar into Banknotes of Zimbabwe and keep the most essential summary in Zimbabwean dollar. --Chochopk 06:07, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done on 14 June 2006. Section on Coins, Banknotes, Travellers Cheques and Bearer Cheques was moved to Banknotes of Zimbabwe and a pointer placed in Zimbabwean Dollar entry.

Is there a way to put a standard parallel value on the Zim Dollar? The most recent I have is from Peta Thronycroft's telegraph blog at 520,000 per US. Although it has apparently breeched a million to one with the GBP on Muruku.com. Any ideas on how to keep up with a currency devaluating daily? Zimbabwean 7/26/06

The parallel market is a "black market". It's also "illegal" according to the Zimbabwe government. By its nature, it will not have one standard rate. Prices vary daily and also from one seller to another. The only solution that I can see is to check a variety of sources each day and report data as it is found.

"New bearer cheques"

[edit]

It seems clear from the reference that, despite the heading given by www.zimbabwesituation.com, the "new bearer cheques" supposedly soon to be released are in fact the new banknotes printed in 2006 but not yet released and already mentioned on the page, and not bearer cheques at all. - PGMcK 03:28, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

The Paper money of the Zimbabwean dollar and Banknotes of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe are the same topic, as they occur in the same time frame and topic. Although the former can include non government issue. Enlil Ninlil (talk) 03:30, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it should be merged, so long as coverage of the designs of the banknotes are included. The colour of the banknotes and the Pick numbers, if applicable, should be included. --Marianian (talk) 16:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I also think they should be merged, since they are almost the same topic. $10000000000ten1one1 08:37, 30 May 2008 (UTC).

Two links to banknotes.com were deleted. When I tried to restore them, I was told that they were considered spam. What is wrong with those sites? I checked the links and saw nothing wrong with them. Nik42 (talk) 22:18, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
