Windows 2000?
[edit]Seriously? 68.47.21.164 (talk) 16:21, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
Potentially yes. It is costly to test after updates. Page lists the FREMM frigates as also having PAAMS -but they have different radars, and I'd bet a very different system - perhaps built off the PAAMS, but better. How do these systems compare to the American Aegis? If someone knows enough to say, they probably will not talk. Then compare PAAMS to the German Sachsen class frigate or the De Zeven Provinciën class frigate- perhaps same combat system but tied to the US MK 41 VLS and US missiles. Then Norway and Spain, and Australian stayed with American equipment - Aegis & MK 41 VLS. I'd call this page start class only. Wfoj3 (talk) 21:47, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
- The Royal Navy now uses a system called Shared Infrastructure: https://www.savetheroyalnavy.org/next-generation-computing-technology-for-the-royal-navy/ For consoles that are isolated and not connected to any network, then it doesn't really matter what operating system you use. And if the software was designed to run on Windows 2000, then that's the operating system that has to be used.
The FREMM frigates use different combat systems for the different nationalities: Naval Group's Setis for France and Leonardo's Athena for Italy. While they will no doubt have elements in common with PAAMS, they are different. FREMM was intended to be more cost effective than Horizon, so they are probably cheaper. Better, as good, who knows?Old Vorlon (talk) 16:44, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Let's talk about PAAM's article
[edit]I find it interesting with all the editing going on but not one word is being discussed on the talk page. --82.212.94.9 (talk) 16:28, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Could Aster missiles be modified so they could be used as anti-ship missiles?
[edit]Would it be possible to make an anti-ship variant of the Aster 15 or Aster 30 missile (or both)? Royal Navy surface ships currently lack a decent anti-ship missile and it's going to be some time before we get Type 26s with LRASM. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.25.65.57 (talk) 20:38, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
