Fair use rationale for Image:Sylvania.gif

[edit]

Image:Sylvania.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge proposal

[edit]

It is unclear how Osram is a separate entity (article) from Osram Sylvania. They should be merged. Likewise, Sylvania Electric Products is one of the companies that merged to form this company, but with the article so bare, I suggest that it simply be incorporated into the "history" of this company. Osram Sylvania is a subsidiary of Osram, so if something is to be merged, it would be this article to the article Osram, and not the other way around. -- Piisamson (talk) 03:51, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. They should remain separate. They clearly are two different legal entities. Even if that werent enough, both articles have much information and merging them would result in a generic article, or a very long one (both should be avoided) And almost a year has passed, should we remove the tag and leave things as they are?

Are legal entities a good enough argument? There are a lot of subsidies under OSRAM and yet they could be argued as separated entities. I think the viewpoint is, whether OSRAM sylvania is different enough from OSRAM to merit a separated article. I suggest we merge OSRAM and OSRAM Sylvania, or there should be more information if OSRAM Sylvania remain as a separated article. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rimsky.cheng (talkcontribs) 12:05, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
