Orville Christophel Park
[edit]Most people believe it was Gustav Oelwein who built the cabin in the Orville Christophel Park, but he was not involved with the cabin. J.B Burch built the cabin in 1852 which still stands at the park today. Size: 1 acre. Located at 1st Avenue and 1st Street SW, this park is also known as Orville Christophel Memorial or Log Cabin Park. The park offers a historical monument from days of yore, picnic tables, benches, and parking for downtown shopping.
The above was from Orville Christophel Park. If it is useful, add to Oelwein, Iowa. See: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Orville Christophel Park. --JWSchmidt 04:04, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]I grew up in Oelwein (and was there last weekend actually) and the people adding their names into the page, oddly enough, I know them (not personally, but by name), sadly enough they are just immature kids. I have put this on my watched list now to keep an eye for future vandalism. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 18:35, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Methland
[edit]A book was released detailing the town's methamphetamine epidemic and could use a mention on the page. [1] --173.19.42.196 (talk) 23:31, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Controversy?
[edit]I cannot find a digital version of the article cited as providing evidence of 'errors of basic reporting'. Also this paragraph is copied verbatim in the article for the book Methland, again with no further substantiation. I would recommend adding (if indeed this section is kept), the article "Iowa town split over portrayal in 'Methland'" by Stephanie Wilbur Ash as it mentions actual errors. http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/51041562.html However, it appears they are minor errors of fact (which city is the largest in Iowa, etc - to be corrected in the paperback), not errors with legal ramifications or negating the point of the book. Perhaps importantly however, it does convey the thoughts of residents on the content of the book and the town's portrayal. ˜˜˜˜ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shn525 (talk • contribs) 08:53, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
