Interfaith tent establishment
[edit]I was at the camp on the second day of the 1st occupy. My church [first congregational church of oakland] was used daily to cook for occupy. I served food and washed dishes as my contribution to the movement.
I was the one who established the first interfaith tent on the third day of the first occupy {I dont really need to have that mentioned but it would be nice if the facts where right}. The Medical Tent was established the second or third day of the first occupy and was right next to the Children & Family section on the NE corner of Oscar Grant Plaza.
Although its true that the interfaith and medical tents where erected for the 2nd occupy, THEY WHERE REPLACED after we re-occupied. I would like the following sentence clarified so it does not sound like the California Nurses Association established the interfaith tent AND the medical tent: "An interfaith tent and a medical tent staffed by the California Nurses Association were among the new additions to the second occupation.[44][45] "
The very first interfaith tent was set up on Oct 19 by me Angel Starr of First Congregational Church of Oakland right behind the Med Tent as a 'safe space' for people feeling threatened by internal abuse and harassment including but not limited to 'gay bashing', sexual assault, robbery, and rape.
The second interfaith tent was set up the first night of the 2nd occupy by Rev. Alexandria Childs of First Congregational Church of Alameda and staffed by ordained and lay clergy from various churches in Oakland including First Unitarian Church of Oakland, First Congregational of Oakland, First Congregational of Alameda, and others.

- Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I changed that sentence's word order to clarify that the interfaith tent was not operated by nurses.--JohnValeron (talk) 21:42, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- there are tent pictures at the commons.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 08:06, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

After Occupy
[edit]I'm not sure why the relationship of Occupy Oakland to Strike Debt Bay Area is such an difficult issue. The Occupy Oakland website has literally hundreds of references to Strike Debt Bay Area and states specifically, "Strike Debt Bay Area is an offshoot of Occupy Oakland and Strike Debt, itself an offshoot of Occupy Wall Street." Just because CBS Evening News hasn't proclaimed in a story that Strike Debt Bay Area is an offshoot of Occupy Oakland shouldn't mean that such information is prohibited from being seen on wikipedia. I will try another route. GreenIn2010 (talk) 01:17, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
