Point of view?

[edit]

I strongly question the neutrality of this article.

Statements like "devices are making counterfeiting more attractive than ever before" and "it is surprising that most of the world's most sophisticated economies still use paper banknotes" shouldn't have a place in an serious article of an encyclopedia. Clean-up is needed. -- Melmoth1984 14:55, 07. February 2007 (CEST) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.207.206.152 (talk) 13:56, 7 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Agreed, however polymer bank notes should be made into a new article and this article linked to it, this would help the neutrality of this article massively. Darakat 11:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Balancing the Point of view and improving the article.

[edit]

NPA has a rich history, which has been somewhat forgotten. I have tried to recreate some of the key events that shaped the organization. In particular the counterfeiting scandal which rocked the RBA. I know that it happened but I am a little sketchy on some of the finer details. I appologies. Although some of my information may be out of date, it is based on what has been published and is in the public domain.

Some suggested things to investigate are

  • The Australian Notes Act 1910 which created NPA.
  • Thomas Samuel Harison 1912 was appointed the first security printer in Australia.
  • First external country to take up polymer notes.
  • Photos (I have some in the booklets but what is reasonable to use?)
  • There was a number of locations that NPA worked at.
  • Also it would be interesting to link other money security printing organisation from around the world.
  • The building design of the Craigieburn printing complex, which is unique have interesting architecture. Take a look at the photo of the place it has a distinctive castle like features, including high wall and is build on solid rock.

Fair use rationale for Image:Charles Kingsford smith 20 dollar note front big.jpg

[edit]

Image:Charles Kingsford smith 20 dollar note front big.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit]

The image Image:Australian $10 note 1988.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

copy/paste

[edit]

The 'Corruption Allegations' section is a direct copy+paste from the referenced article in The Age. It's not my area of expertise, so does somebody else want to reword it?  Stepho  talk  04:17, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
