functioning net labels
[edit]lets list some currently functioning net labels in the article. inpuj? kahvi? also a mention of commercial net labels like desgin disorder Aghost 21:16, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
actually, some netlabels do sell cd/vinyl compilations of what they consider to be the best selection of their released material. these are usually sold as limited edition LP/EP that are to be used for live perfomances (and are therefore expected to have been remastered before being sold). moreover this is something quite natural having in mind the fact that nevertheless mp3-decoded audio sounds good plaid by some average (or pc) speakers, it's usualy lacking some dynamics resolution lost during the mp3-encoding phase. in other words, mp3s' (sometimes non-audible but percieveable) loss of quality might be crucial for live performances.

Listing some netlabels could be taken as an advertising and that's not well accepted in wikipedia. --Funkdab 08:56, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
German version
[edit]I find the German version of the definition of netlabels more accurate/appealing. Anybody who wants to translate/reedit /merge it with the English version?

- Hmm... That appears to have less information than the English version. The only thing it has that the English version lacks is a more comprehensive directory of related sites -- something I'm not sure we need. Wikipedia is not a link directory. It's an encyclopedia. All links should be significant in either historical value, or as a reference. There are literally tens of thousands of netlabel related sites out there. Where do we draw the line as to what gets included and what doesn't? Dilvie 20:00, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Netlabel links
[edit]I was under the impression that the links list shouldn't include any actual netlabels? David t 22:18, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I'm also the same think, that why I put my netlabel link, but if you considered it like a promotion link, it's OK for me to be erase. Thank anyway for your great job. --76.26.145.233 (talk) 22:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
External Links section
[edit]I have removed all the links to individual netlabels from the External Links section, as there are lots of netlabels and Wikipedia is not a directory of websites. My inclination is that following the advice on WP:LINKS, it would be appropriate for this article to have a link to a good directory of netlabels and probably the archive.org page, but that should probably be it. Unless anyone objects, I will cull the links to this. -- AJR | Talk 22:15, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Citations
[edit]This article contains no citations. I know from firsthand experience that at least the majority of the information is accurate, but in its current state, it could really use citations and an improvement in writing style to appear more detached and factual. -- Yellow Archer (talk) 19:33, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Back in 2006/2007 www.netlabels.org had some more information about netlabels, a definition, how they operate, etc. Their platform was wiki-based and it was easy to add new netlabels/releases to their catalog. In the end of 2007, they decided to upgrade and develop the website, closed the project and all past information has been lost. I just used the Internet Archive's "Wayback Machine" and retrieved their definition of Netlabel here but I don't know if I can cite it here. --VPD (talk) 09:02, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
