I would dispute the phrase 'never practiced in medicine' and 'never practiced in law'... what are your references?

To achieve full registration with the General Medical Council, a doctor must have practised in medicine for 1 year after university, which he did in 1977.

Why is his name written in Hindi? There is no direct connection to India or Hindi language in his life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LiangHH (talkcontribs) 22:28, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading Section of Article

[edit]

Hello Wikipedians,

I believe that the headline "2024 Phone Tapping scandal" written by the user, BerwickKent is rather misleading. I have researched on that topic and they do not seem to be controversial to this article. In addition, I have done further research, and Dr Navin Ramgoolam claimed that he actually ordered his staff to get rid of the phone tapping as he actually respects the Mauritian people's privacy. He also mentioned that he later initiated the phone tapping in 2014 to combat drugs and terrorist attacks only. However, the phone tapping was then handled by the other prime minister in 2015. The audio leaks seem to be between 2015 to 2024, in which Dr Navin Ramgoolam was not prime minister during those time. Therefore, I believe that this section of the article needs to be removed to prevent false information. Nikhilrealm (talk) 13:53, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree on the fact that the wiretapping section needs to be removed as it does not totally and directly relate to what's written in the paragraph.
You mentioned about removing the article, you need to be careful while using your words, administrators might think you would want to remove the whole article. SwiftReader1994 (talk) 17:12, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'm glad someone agrees with me. However, there seems to be a user that keeps adding that section (and other misleading sections) in the article after its removal. Are there anyway to deal with that issue?
I also apologies for my words. I will make sure to make the changes. Nikhilrealm (talk) 17:57, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A much qualified administrator needs to review these repeated vandalism by that user inserting paragraphs in a way that doesn't relate to what the sources is saying, and some original sources are also no longer available online or doesn't come from a notable news sources. I sincerely hope an administrator look into same. In any case, i have already requested protection for Honourable Prime Minister's Wikipedia page. SwiftReader1994 (talk) 07:24, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I really hope that necessary actions are taken. Nikhilrealm (talk) 17:24, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am not Dr Navin Ramgoolam. I am just a fellow Wikipedian on the internet who wants to eliminate any misinformation written. I apologise if I have caused any inconvenience. Nikhilrealm (talk) 16:12, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war

[edit]

@Nikhilrealm edited their username into an old reply, but I'm not sure whether or not they'll be notified without a ping, so I'm making an entirely new section and pinging both of them:

@BerwickKent, you and Nikhilrealm have been reverting each other for over a month without discussion, going far past WP:3RR and what appears to be consensus in above sections of this talk page. Discuss your dispute here and cease edit warring further. Taffer 😊 (talk) 17:15, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I believe that the user has been adding misleading statements and unreliable sources supporting the statements in the article. Furthermore, some statements that I have removed were stated in a way it would seem controversy to the article, even though they are not. Nikhilrealm (talk) 17:22, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You will note that @Nikhilrealm is obsessed with deleting material which has been properly referenced from very reliable sources. @Nikhilrealm is repeatedly being destructive and has not added any new material in her evidently biased and partisan endeavours of hiding scandals and misdemeanours which have been widely reported in the press. BerwickKent (talk) 00:35, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @BerwickKent, I believe those materials that you have added are very misleading for this article. One prime example is the 2024 Phone Tapping Scandal, in which if you do your research properly, this is not controversial to Navin Ramgoolam. In addition, some of the "very reliable sources" does not seem to come from a trusted website. Nikhilrealm (talk) 17:16, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The referenced article that you have maliciously deleted indicates clearly that Ramgoolam ordered and facilitated of the phone tapping equipment. Journalist Abhi Ramsahaye even won the Nicholas Lambert prize for investigating this matter in 2016. Refet to "Au cœur d’une cellule ultra-secrète" which was published in Le Défi Plus of 30 April 2016, the other references made, etc. (https://defimedia.info/prix-nicolas-lambert-abhi-ramsahaye-et-yaasin-pohrun-du-defi-media-group-primes-0)
Of course Ramgoolam will be in denial, and claim that it was to help find drug traffickers and whatever cover he prefers. But has this phone tapping resolved drug traffic in Mauritius? Or course not. Instead nowadays anyone's phone conversations can be tapped and recorded!
I cannot wait for your sycophantic acts of vandalism are put to an end. BerwickKent (talk) 07:31, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! Apologies for the late reply.
Yes, Ramgoolam indeed ordered the phone tapping equipment, however, the equipment was not set up by Ramgoolam, as he lost the General Election of 2014. Instead, it was set up and handled by the other elected prime minister. Here are some sources:
https://defimedia.info/article-publie-dans-le-defi-plus-en-2016-ecoutes-telephoniques-au-coeur-dune-cellule-ultra-secrete
https://defimedia.info/ramgoolam-zot-pass-enn-katapilar-lor-mwa-mo-ankor-lamem

https://defimedia.info/mahebourg-vendredi-soir-navin-ramgoolam-dan-16-zour-nou-pou-kapav-respir-ler-la-liberte
Assuming that Ramgoolam was responsible for the Phone Tapping Scandal, why did the (now former) prime minister, Pravind Jugnauth decide to shut down social media to prevent any leak of the phone tapping videos? If he had been innocent, such an incident would have not happened. Here are some sources below including national and international media:
https://defimedia.info/les-reseaux-sociaux-suspendus-maurice-jusquau-11-novembre
https://misa.org/blog/media_violations/mauritius-blocks-access-to-social-media-ahead-of-elections/
https://theconversation.com/mauritius-social-media-shutdown-a-worrying-sign-that-civil-rights-are-slipping-242906
In addition, the (now former) prime minister, Jugnauth who was involved in the phone tapping had also set allegations against innocent people. Recent news now indicates that they were innocent (here's the source: https://www.lemauricien.com/actualites/societe/missie-moustass-la-charge-de-misuse-of-fake-profile-rayee-contre-sherry-singh-et-les-quatre-autres-suspects/661354/#google_vignette)
Similarly, Ramgoolam (currently prime minister) announced a few days ago that citizens no longer have to re-register their SIM card by providing personal information (such as their ID card and their proof of address), which was the case when Jughnauth was in charge. Personal information on the SIM that had been previously re-registered will also be destroyed as stated by the SIM companies (please note that the Government of Mauritius supports SIM companies in Mauritius). This shows that Ramgoolam in fact does not want to have in possession the citizens' private detail (Source: https://defimedia.info/les-abonnes-de-cartes-sim-ne-seront-plus-tenus-de-senregistrer-ou-de-reenregistrer-leurs-cartes).
I wish you and your family a happy new year, and I'm hoping this confusion gets resolved as soon as possible. Thank you! Nikhilrealm (talk) 13:58, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @BerwickKent, you have once again added the misleading contents in that article without replying to answers on why I believe they are misleading. I would kindly request you to revert back the latest edit that you have made. Thank you! Nikhilrealm (talk) 16:57, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please explain exactly why you think they are misleading. BerwickKent (talk) 11:13, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have already talked about 2024 Phone Tapping section which you have ignored and added it back.
For the other misleading sections in the "Controversies, scandals, and legal issues" that you had just added, I have looked at the source that you have references, and they are either very exaggerated to make it look like they are a controversy, or they are controversies that doesn't even involve Ramgoolam. Some doesn't even makes sense to be a controversy.
For the "2015 arrest for conspiracy and money laundering", please note that in recent news indicate that Ramgoolam is innocent, therefore there's a need for that section to be removed (https://defimedia.info/affaire-des-coffres-forts-la-motion-de-navin-ramgoolam-visant-referer-laffaire-la-cour-supreme-rejetee).
