BBC link incorrect?
[edit]While I am not able to find a reference for this (the devices appear to be rather on the obscure end of the scale), images of "BBC Sigmatronics" devices point to them being BBC as in Brown, Boveri & Cie, not BBC as in British Broadcasting Corporation. No idea where one would go to for a reliable source on this, though. 20kdc (talk) 19:44, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- Here's a source. It's a 1972 BBC Sigmatronic databook being offered for sale. Here's the cover and the listing. The cover has "Brown Boveri" under "BBC" in the logo with "Sigmatronic" adjacent. Also, it looks like "Sigmatronic" is the product line, not part of the company name. Here's a couple of PDFs where it's clearer: 12 Alex Hajnal (talk) 06:50, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- Also, Cie (or Cie.) is an alternate form of Cie which (in French) is short for Compagnie. The English equivalent would be Co. being short for Company. Though founded in Baden bei Zürich (which is Swiss German speaking) the company's name is in French: Brown, Boveri et Compagnie. If you do an Internet search for the full company name (in quotes) you'll find a few old documents/images using the French either in full or as & Cie. Alex Hajnal (talk) 12:30, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
