named after?
[edit]who is the library named after? There are so many Mugars involved in Boston that I can't keep track of them. there's a street, and an IMAX theater, and several buildings at BU i believe. can anyone clarify this?--Alhutch 02:38, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- According to Kilgore's book, "Transformations" Mugar Library was named to commemorate the parents of Steven Mugar, an Armenian immigrant who made his fortune in the grocery business. I believe there is (or was) a plaque naming the parents, etc, at the old entrance to the Library. The old entrance, now bricked up and not apparent to the casual passer-by, was in the Link just west of the eastern-facing entry doors to the link.
- I never understood why they thought it appropriate to change the entrance and make people go outside to move between the Library and the Sherman Union.
