Indonesia or East Timor
[edit]Mota'ain is the name used for the Indonesian side of the border ie to the west of the river, and not for the East Timorese side. The Indonesia checkpoint is now called the Mota'ain Border Crossing (Pos Lintas Batas Mota'ain), whereas East Timor's Immigration Website refers to its checkpoint as Batugade. I proposed to amend this page to reflect the correct situation. A new page can be created for the East Timor border crossing.Slleong (talk) 05:39, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
- There are settlements on both side of the border with this name. They are differed in WikiData and Commons. Mota'ain (Q1949581) is the East Timorese, Motaain (Q14644142) the Indonesian one. The English article about Indonesian side is wrong ordered to the East Timorese side. J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 12:39, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- Or better said: The article is about the wrong item since 2019. J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 12:41, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- To add to the confusion, the idwiki article about id:Mota'ain considers it as part of both countries (!!), while id:Motaain redirects to Kabupaten Belu (Belu Regency). —capmo (talk) 16:45, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- id:Mota'ain is about the border crossing, not about the settlements on both sides. ^^° The id-article is calling the border river "Mota", but "Mota" is simply the Tetum word for "river" (Mota'ain is "river mouth"). Tetum is spoking in East and West Timor. J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 19:11, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- And there is another Motaain in district Malaka Barat in Indonesian Timor, btw. ;-) J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 19:11, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
