This picture might not be correct. The statue should be located more to the right of the pole right. If you google image the actual painting, the statue is in a different spot.


It seems that Panini loved the Duke's gallery and he painted it several times.

  • The version pictured is from The Met in NY linked here
  • Another version image is at the Louvre, and can be seen here., note the crowded floor and , note the perspective change.
  • The MFA in Boston has one very similar to the Met one, but with more stuff in the foreground.

I'd love to see all three (maybe more) side-by-side. Any editors out there want to do some research about the multiple versions?
