Rebuilding Mitchelstown Castle?
[edit]Now that Ireland is a rich country, wouldn't it be nice to relocate the Dairygold factory and rebuild Mitchelstown Castle? cgoakley
- OK, so rebuilding Mitchelstown Castle is probably not going to happen, but I question the neutrality of 83.70.253.199, one of whose edits contains the phrase "As a result of the illegal British invasion of Ireland." Wikipedia is not the place for strongly POV statements like this, unless quoting a notable individual. FWIW, the views I got from Mitchelstowners I spoke to
in 2006 and 2007 uniformly regretted the destruction of the castle Cgoakley 16:08, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
References
[edit]Also, why has the reference to Bill Power's excellent book been removed? Cgoakley 16:11, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nothing in edit summaries. I've restored it and formatted it consistent with the other references RJFJR (talk) 20:16, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Bill Power did not write White Knights, Dark Earls. William Trevor did. I've changed it. Millbanks (talk) 09:14, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
I have the book in front of me, and he did. William Trevor wrote the foreword. Cgoakley (talk) 00:00, 9 August 2008 (UTCs)
Guys you can still enter the dungeons and wine cellers oh and diary gold got shutdown and the wine cellers and the diarygold is haunted along with a house near it. user--Stephendwan (talk) 15:54, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, Ascendancy House for vastly improving this article. As a descendant of the third Earl (albeit through less-than-respectable channels) I still dream that one day the castle will be rebuilt. And if its destruction was not an "act of wanton destruction which had no military purpose" then what was it? Cgoakley (talk) 11:47, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
