Shaq vs

[edit]

She appeared in the show "Shaq vs". I think this should be added to the article.

High school

[edit]

Did she attend high school at Costa Mesa or Newport Beach? Did she change schools? The article is unclear on this. PC78 (talk) 19:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newport Harbor High School includes some of Costa Mesa in its boundaries, so she could have attended high school in Newport Beach while living in Costa Mesa (the two cities are right next to one another). Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 19:12, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Her Nickname "The iguana"

[edit]

Is there any background information on her nickname being "The Turtle"? Her physical stature and type of athlete she is doesn't seem to reflect such a moniker. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.179.153.163 (talk) 20:23, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to this article, she says (After interviewer asked her how she got the nickname "Turtle") "I don’t know Kerri’s husband gave me that name and then everybody started calling me that. So don’t ask me, I’m still trying to figure it out." Smuckers It has to be good 04:01, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated Dancing With the Stars mention

[edit]

Just a note to say that this fact is mentioned twice. Once in the Professional Career section and one in the TV Appearances section. I think one mention is sufficient and perhaps the upper hand goes to the latter section. I would change it but I am not registered. 76.68.236.112 (talk) 14:32, 25 August 2008 (UTC)samusek2[reply]

Done. Removed from professional career because it has nothing to do with volleyball, and left under the TV appearances. Alanraywiki (talk) 15:10, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't meant facetiously, but it might make sense to include a link under "After Olympics" to take people directly there; given the closeness of the two events (the DWTS announcement came the day after the Olympics ended), I'm virtually certain people will try to add it in. Samer (talk) 21:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are probably right. I just added a hidden note for those editing under "After Olympics" so they will see that the TV appearance is already mentioned. It certainly does not belong under professional career. Maybe the note will help. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 23:04, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correction

[edit]

{{editsemiprotected}} The tattoo of a roman numeral five on her lower back is the number Misty May-Treanor wore throughout her college career. It is also a tribute to Kidd, who is her favorite basketball player and wore the #5 on his jersey for most of his career.[1]

Looks like the information has been added by someone now. Removing template, thanks for the correction. ~ mazca t | c 19:28, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please note the interview with Misty in the following newspaper account a out J Kidd, nd the #5 tattoo.

References

Roman numeral five tattoo & Jason Kidd

[edit]

I heard the comment on NBC during the olympics about her roman numeral five tattoo being a reference to Jason Kidd's #5. I think the AP article is misquoted...she wore #5 playing basketball because that was Kidd's number, and hence she got the tattoo on her back. This is different than a tattoo being "a tribute to Kidd". Also, I haven't been able to confirm any of this with another source.

Her Name

[edit]

I suspect the "Elizabeth Taylor" in her name is not true and was added maliciously. Jtbagwelljr (talk) 05:14, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A google search reveals that all instances of the name are Wikipedia copies, so I've removed it. Revert if I'm wrong. 99.244.97.75 (talk) 12:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Retirement

[edit]

May-Treanor has indicated her intention to retire, and we have no reason to believe she won't... but isn't there something official she needs to do in order to actually be considered retired? It seems weird to describe her in the lede as retired before the Olympic Games have even concluded. Won't people wonder how she won a match yesterday if she's considered retired? Powers T 13:24, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't see a place to edit her education but I was disappointed that her Master's degree from Concordia Irvine wasn't mentioned....she is retiring to coach. http://www.cui.edu/academicprograms/graduate/coaching/index.aspx?id=23128 — Preceding unsigned comment added by KimS-or-something (talkcontribs) 17:55, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

High school coach

[edit]

Pretty sure the coach at Newport Harbor when Misty was playing was, and still is, Dan Glenn .... Easily found on the team's website, which has records dating back into the 1980s .... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.126.147.92 (talk) 16:05, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Citations needed tag

[edit]

I note there is a citations needed tag under the article's professional career section. The section appears to be pretty well cited. One could always add more, but all paragraphs have at least one citation and most have multiple citations. Perhaps we could remove the tag. AliciaZag13 (talk) 02:52, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
