Seals in the delegates section

[edit]

The seals added for individual entries in the Miss Universe Philippines 2020#Delegates table are more decorative than not and probably should be considered for removal per MOS:LOGO. Many of the files which have been added are licensed as non-free content and there's really no way to justify their use in an article like this per Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. The remaining files are from Commons and so non-free content use is not an issue, but they make up just a little more than half of the total number of entries. Using the Commons files might not be a problem from a copyright status standpoint, but it's not really in sync with WP:ICON#Free images since no real enclopedic value is being provided by them; moreover, using them basically means that roughtly half of the entries will have seals while the other half will not. All of these seals (non-free and free) can be seen in the individual articles about each province; so, removing even the files from Commons from the table is not really going to result in a lot of encyclopedic information. The province names are blue-inked and if someone wants to find out more about a province, they can go to the individual article about it and see the seal there. If images are needed for this section, it would make much more sense to add images of each delegate if freely-licensed ones can be found somewhere online; non-free images could be used per WP:FREER, but freely-licensed files uploaded to Commons could be used. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:07, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All of these seals should be properly be uploaded under public domain as works of the Philippine government. With that said these seals are purely decorative, these should go as per WP:ICONDECORATION. Seals are not meant to be use in a small rendition unlike flags (which are also meant to be distinguishable at a distance) which are typically used in international sporting articles.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 20:58, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Don't put seals. Just put the flags of the province. If the contestant is representing a city, the put the Province flag of where the city is located. Serene Reel (talk) 17:28, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Add flags in the City or Province column in the Delagtes.

[edit]

Please add the flag of the province in the result and the City or Province column to make it more presentable. If it's just a City then put the flag of the Province where the City is located. Please consider this. Serene Reel (talk) 17:27, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Most LGU flags are just "seal on the bedsheets" or LGU seals on a plain background, so a small depiction of the flags won't aid identification much compare to the use of national flags in international pageants which had more varied design. Do these LGU flags actually have significant usage in the pageant, meaning the organizers or most supporters actually used the flags as part of the event? If not, there is no convincing reason to add flag images.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 16:22, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To illustrate my point, would readers be able to distinguish which LGU has this flag () from the image alone? Maybe Bohol's () but not the former example which is Benguet's. For consistency purposes, the flags were omitted altogether. Please understand.
But if you dispute this maybe ask feedback from other users at the WikiProject Beauty Pageants or Wikiproject Philippines talk pages to possibly build a new consensus?Hariboneagle927 (talk) 16:32, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
