Combine Stats

[edit]

His combine stats are incomplete and the 40 yard dash is grossly (and favourably) stated at a 4.60 time rather than the 4.91 actual time. All you need to do is check the referenced source to see the errors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.243.60.20 (talk) 17:23, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speculation

[edit]

Ordinarily we wouldn't speculate about him being the first openly gay player, but the sources are speculating so I don't see a problem with this. Two kinds of pork (talk) 05:28, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Due weight

[edit]

Student counter-protests carried the day news-wise. I'd like to see more weight given to that side of the story. I will not change the current wording since I participated and thus have a clear conflict-of-interest. User:Muboshgu, looks like you were right about the purpose of the protest – I just checked WBC's press releases. BTW, when will this be on DYK? Mark Schierbecker (talk) 01:16, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Due weight is important. My biggest concern with this article at present is there might be too much skewing towards his sexuality in comparison to his high school and college career. I've been working on adding details about his playing career to try to balance it. As for the protests, I think its best to present it in the chronological order of Sam and trophy --> WBC protest --> student counterprotest, since that is the order that these developments took place (WBC indeed went to Mizzou specifically to protest Sam, and a counterprotest developed to wash out the WBC). Believe me, I hate the WBC as much as the next sane and rational person, but we have to be sure we present everything neutrally. I think stating that they numbers were 15 vs. 500 shows that the counterprotestors won, but if there's anything else noteworthy to mention, we can add it. – Muboshgu (talk) 13:01, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and it was on DYK three days ago. Check the banner above. – Muboshgu (talk) 13:01, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Muboshgu. I think 500 is a very conservative estimate (there were at least 500 at any given time as seen from my building but there were people coming and going.) but it was the most quoted so I don't think it deserves any less prominence. First kiss

[edit]

I think perhaps we should find a different quote regarding the kiss, since the quote currently used contains a fairly blatant factual error that is at the crux of the quote

Stand with Sam 100s or thousands?

[edit]

Note there are so many credible sources that say thousands that to even mention the 500 number estimate by the MU police violates WP:undue weight. please see WP:RSUW. MATThematical (talk) 00:07, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
