The result of the move request was: no consensus, leaning not moved. There are reasonable concerns that the proposed title would be ambiguous. Jenks24 (talk) 11:15, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Michael Taylor (baseball, born 1991) → Michael A. Taylor – Common name used to refer to the player (with middle initial included in coverage by The Washington Post, MASN, and Baseball America). A less awkward title for a player who is considerably more prominent than Michael Taylor (baseball, born 1985). -Kudzu1 (talk) 06:22, 2 September 2015 (UTC) Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 05:26, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose MLB.com, ESPN.com, Fangraphs, Baseball-Reference all refer to him as just Michael Taylor.--Yankees10 06:56, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Although he does refer to himself as A Taylor on his Twitter.--Yankees10 17:05, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support - While the "A." is not universally used, it is certainly a less unwieldy dab approach than "{baseball, born 1991)", which is not used by any other source. Rlendog (talk) 14:51, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support. While not used by all sources, there are a notable amount of sources that do refer to him as "Michael A. Taylor". For example, [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. Egsan Bacon (talk) 15:33, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Question this RM intends to keep the other "Michael Taylor" where it is? – Muboshgu (talk) 15:34, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose A isn't unique. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:14, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- What other notable people commonly use the name "Michael A. Taylor"? Rlendog (talk) 16:37, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support - The "A" would reduce the number of users consulting the wrong article. Fbdave (talk) 22:40, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose - There is a murderer of the exact same name with the same middle name, Anthony. Also, I can see the football player with the same initial, "A", without knowing what it stands for. The "Michael Angelo Taylor" article proves something also. We can create Michael A. Taylor (prisoner) or Trial of Michael A. Taylor, or Michael Anthony Taylor (prisoner). George Ho (talk) 07:39, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- Is the murderer notable enough to have his own article? If not, it shouldn't matter that there is one. There may be another person named Barack Obama. That doesn't mean we need to dab the president to Barack Obama (president). Rlendog (talk) 16:36, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- As of now, the murderer is not notable enough to have his own article. If he becomes notable, I recommend we name dab his article to Michael Taylor (prisoner) or Michael A. Taylor (prisoner). Fbdave (talk) 01:02, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

- User:Jenks24 what was the point of relisting, it didn't gather support. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:41, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- No harm in giving it another week to see if consensus develops. Jenks24 (talk) 13:48, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- Should we move Michael Taylor (American football) to Michael A. Taylor (American football) and dab Michael Angelo Taylor? Fbdave (talk) 01:02, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose. Others above demonstrate that the proposed is ambiguous, even with existing articles. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 13:30, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose - A is not sufficient disambiguation and many people would still need the Michael Tayor DAB to find him. This proposal is no more precise or commonname than what it currently is listed as. Tiggerjay (talk) 20:54, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: page moved. Andrewa (talk) 20:23, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
Michael Taylor (baseball, born 1991) → Michael A. Taylor – I am reopening this discussion two years after the previous one. Now that Taylor is more well known, sources seem to refer to him as Michael A. Taylor more often. MLB.com lists him has Michael A. Taylor. Per WP:COMMONNAME, plus the fact that Michael A. Taylor already redirects here, it makes sense. Instaurare (talk) 18:28, 8 November 2017 (UTC) Instaurare (talk) 18:28, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support: Shorter article titles are desirable and this clearly meets COMMONNAME criteria. -Kudzu1 (talk) 09:57, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Hatnotes
[edit]I'm sure the hatnotes I've just put there are not ideal, but they will do the job until someone more knowledgeable can do something more elegant. Andrewa (talk) 20:32, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
