Need for Updating

[edit]

There is need to update the Article about the Merry Hill Shopping Centre, there used to be a full article about the shopping centre, and information has been deleted weeks ago, please contribute any information. Bevanl 22:40, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Improving this article

[edit]

I really think this article needs some information on the history of the site. It mentions the Round Oaks Steelworks but it mentions nothing of its history, employee numbers (50,000 was the number I think). Some geographical information could be good. - Erebus555 19:29, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The steelworks history, etc, should be a separate article - it is not relevant here The Yeti 00:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Aacarpark.jpg

[edit]

Image:Aacarpark.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.y If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Martin Fiddler and Helen Dain

[edit]

Does anyone know whether these people are actually celebrities of some kind? I re-added them after reverting some vandalism earlier this evening, but a search failed to find anything other mention of them, apart from in this article, and on something that I think must have been copied from this page. So I'm concluding that it was a vanity edit and I've removed them again. Apologies if they should be there, and by all means pop them back in. RE:stabbing

[edit]

Is there any need for a whole section on stabbing at merry hill and is there any referances??

--Thanks...TOMBRANT407 (talk) 17:14, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It wouldn't be the first violent incident in the car park and probably won't be the last! -86.162.169.214 (talk) 01:23, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mezza redirect

[edit]

Why does Mezza redirect to this page? I could not find any mention of mezza on the page. I will redirect it to Meze instead. --ti 16:35, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see that connection either, aside from a misspelling. Could be related to www.mezzacotta.com -- Jevanyn 21:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jevanyn (talkcontribs)

Mezza is the local colloquial name for Merry Hill, so it should be listed there. 92.238.115.70 (talk) 19:41, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You will need to find reliable published sources for that.Charles (talk) 08:40, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tower?

[edit]

I seem to recall a press article some years ago saying that the shopping centre would include a tower, intended to be [one of the ?] tallest in the country. There's no mention of this as far as I can see in the article. Was I dreaming? --rossb (talk) 13:00, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You weren't dreaming! (Either that or we both had the same dream....) I think this dates from the early 1990s, though my memory is that the idea was for it to have been one of the tallest towers in the world, let alone the UK. Matthew (talk) 13:18, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I remember reading about this too. As far as I am aware, the plan wasn't taken too seriously and was dismissed early on by many. I'll have a root around and see what I can find but I can't imagine there being a wealth of information on this, I'm afraid. - Erebus555 (talk) 15:12, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

The image Image:The Westfield Group logo.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Overall Neutrality

[edit]

This article is supposed to be neutral, however, a number of sections seem to be rather biased. I suggest that this is looked at, as the comments are believed to be NIMBYist — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.40.167 (talk) 07:52, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment As the discussion on Talk:Broadmarsh has since closed, I think this discussion should be reintroduced. There seems to be a lot more keyword search terms relating to 'intu merry hill' in searches now on Google (check Ubersuggest). This seems to have been backed up by the Google Business listing having been changed and verified from 'Merry Hill Shopping Centre' to intu Merry Hill back in December. All of this indicates an increasing and now strong shift towards the WP:COMMONNAME now being 'intu Merry Hill' as opposed to it's current listing. This should be open to discussion. Woolworths

[edit]

Would be nice if someone could alter the Woolworths mention in the article as it is somewhat misleading to discuss the failure of the Woolworths stores at the centre versus local Woolworths stores when there was never a FULL Woolworths store at Merry Hill, there was a Woolworths Music & Video and a Woolworths Kids and as such they lacked a large array of products carried by a "full" Woolworths due to the company never committing fully to the "Shopping Mall" concept. 50.240.245.217 (talk) 22:23, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
