Questions
[edit]When Dan visits the Hall of Heroes in the game, the entrance is available by entering through a portal where a gargoyle stands. The stairs are at the far back. However, when in the final movie sequence, Dan enters via doors and jumps towards to the chair at the end of the table on the other side of the room. The question is, where did Stormbinder's secret room go that contained her statue? --rjcuk 16:18, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Images
[edit]The emulated images I have uploaded have been deleted (starts sobbing heavily), as with the cover art image. However, the "ripped" loading images for Dan's Crypt and The Entrance Hall still remain. And for you lucky few, the audio sample is also still available! --rjcuk 22:45, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Cheats
[edit]This section was previously removed by Combination at 19:35, 23 October 2006.
There are two cheats that work in this game. Each one activates a different set of cheats. To enter a cheat, Go to the PAUSE menu (press START), hold L2 and press the keys mentioned. Key: T = Triangle; O = Circle; S= Square; L = Left; R = Right; U = Up; D = Down; Space = (Nothing). Cheats are accessible from the Pause menu (press START).
The most simple cheat is DUST TO DUST. This activates the CHEATS menu that contains Complete Level, Invulnerability, and Chalice.
The extended cheat is TO TOOT LOUD ROLL TROLL TO DOOR. This activates these cheats:
- the default menu that contains Restart (restart level), and View FMV: TitleAV (view the last FMV sequence).
- the SOUND TEST menu contains Music (37), Speech (155), and Test Sound (125).
- the CAMERA menu contains Plugin Type (30)
- the CHEATS menu contains those as above and Super Cheat (unlock all weapons and levels, maximum money and life), Stored Energy (max 2700 = 9 life bottles), Inventory Item (scroll and use X or Triangle to unlock items and maximum values) and Gold Pieces (maximum 5000).
- the DEBUG menu which contains Just Dan (restart level with no moving parts).
Tables replace paragraphs?
[edit]I just wanted to ask - it is Wikipedia standards to convert the text about the characters into a table, instead of having headed paragraphs? --rjcuk 13:43, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Medievil cover.jpg
[edit]Image:Medievil cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:37, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

- as he makes an attempt to stop Zarok's invasion of the kingdom whilst simultaneously redeeming himself. - May need some expansion on who Zarok is
- I re-worded to "antagonist" to make it simple ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:52, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- Development began in 1995 at a Cambridge studio - Not specific enough. It should be Millennium Interactive.
- Thought so, done ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:52, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- The game's visuals are heavily influenced from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. - Should be influenced "by" instead of "from"
- Re-worded ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:52, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- Sony's purchase of SCE Cambridge Studio evolved the game into a major PlayStation title - I don't think the world "major" is necessary
- I agree, removed ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:52, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- Dan can equip a shield to defend against attacks, though they can only take so much damage before breaking. - Does here mean weapon degrading? So much mean how much?
- I've re-worded this sentence so hopefully it's clearer ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:52, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- green ones offer Dan information and blue merchant gargoyles where Dan can buy services or ammunition using treasure he finds. - Personal opinion, not compulsory, but I would rephrase it into: green ones offer Dan information while blue ones allow Dan to buy services or ammunition bu using the treasures he finds.
- Thanks, done ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:52, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- (it will deplete completely if Dan drowns or falls from a great height) - The bracket is not really necessary. I will suggest to make it a standalone sentence

- Plot is very concise and focused. Well done!
- Capcom's Ghost'n Goblins - Ghost'n Goblins need to be italicized
- Oops, done ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:58, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- The game received positive reviews upon release and was also commercially successful - Any actual sales figures?
- Unfortunately information (along with every other 90s GA I have under my belt) is scarce and I couldn't find any specific sales figures for this game. This is by all means not approved of by WP:VG/RS but according to this website it sold 830,000 copies worldwide, though I'm sceptical on using that as a reference... ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:58, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- Is "Gaming ExpoReception" even something reliable or notable?
- I had thoughts on removing this as I found it wasn't notable enough whilst looking for sources. I could not find any decent information that this game won any awards (I'm sure it did), although its sequel, MediEvil II won a couple of awards. I've removed this entirely ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:58, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- When I removed it I noticed it made the opening paragraph very short, so I merged it with the main one, if you don't mind? ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:59, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- GameRevolution similary praised the humour but criticised the game for being too straightforward and "easy to master" Game Revolution, it has a space in between
- Fixed ☠ Jaguar ☠ 11:59, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- original look and unique number of puzzles - The number of puzzles is unique?

[edit]- No dead links
- Source 3 is a primary source
- That's a vital piece of information and I'm about to use it for other future GANs, what should happen to it? ☠ Jaguar ☠ 12:04, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- What is Source 7?
- Some IP added that in, I was careless not to remove it! I've replaced it with a far better ref ☠ Jaguar ☠ 12:04, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- I actually think that there is not enough sources for the gameplay section. The last sentence in the music section as well as the second sentence in the reception section also need a source
- Added some for the music section and also I've used an overview by IGN for some parts of the gameplay. I also found another detailed review. Hope this is OK ☠ Jaguar ☠ 12:04, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

[edit]It is a very well-written articles. Very precise and focused, lead can is engaging enough and summarize everything, and that the development section is very comprehensive. The only issues I notice is that the articles don't have enough sources. If that is fixed, the article is good to go.

- @AdrianGamer: thanks for the review! I think I've addressed all of the above, want to take a look? As for the sales figures, I couldn't find anything reliable or supported by WP:VG/RS but it's up to you if I should include it anyway. Thanks again ☠ Jaguar ☠ 12:15, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- The first 2 problem I mentioned, and the template of File:Medievil cover.jpg (MediEvil (video game), not MediEvil) still need to be addressed. The last sentence in the music section about the album and the second section of the reception section about the Halloween-influenced atmosphere (Halloween is not spell correctly in that sentence) still need reference. For the sales, if it is not supported by reliable sources then it shouldn't be included. However, if it is not included, the game being "commercially successful" should not be mentioned. AdrianGamer (talk) 12:27, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- I think I've fixed the template problem of the cover image and also I've found the entry for being able to buy the album through the artist's online store (ref added). Fixed the typo and also added references where you mentioned. I removed the commercial part as I'm not too sure on using that reference, though I'll have a look through VG:RS to see if I can use anything else in the mean time. What do you think now, AdrianGamer? ☠ Jaguar ☠ 12:35, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

Requested move 29 February 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: To be moved both per clear consensus on which should be primarytopic. (non-admin closure) Dicklyon (talk) 06:51, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
– The first game (now at MediEvil (video game)) is the only game in this very small series known by that title alone, the two other games have unique subtitles. When I came to this page, I thought the article was about the first game, and I'm pretty sure the first game is the primary topic for the name. A Google search seems to confirm this. Most mentions of the title on Google refer to the first game alone, not the series as a whole. So this article about the series should be moved to make way for the first game to be transferred to this title. FunkMonk (talk) 15:59, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
- Support Having just "MediEvil" as the name of the series' article is confusing and unnecessary. The first game should be moved to this title, and this moved to "MediEvil (series)", as suggested above. I proposed a move last year but the discussion died out. JAGUAR 18:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose the series is also called "MediEvil" and when talking about it, it would be more likely to refer to the whole, instead of 'MediEvil 1' -- 70.51.46.39 (talk) 05:32, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
- But the name is primarily used to refer to the first game. Try Googling the word. FunkMonk (talk) 09:20, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
- I think this is the same IP who opposed the original move, and they don't know what they're on about. Donkey Kong Country has its own article without the "(video game)", and Donkey Kong Country (series) exists without any issues. JAGUAR 16:15, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Seems the IP must be either a blocked editor or someone who doesn't want to be identified, certainly experienced; even I had a hard time following the part with "improperly formatted multimove request"... FunkMonk (talk) 16:31, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Ah. I think it's the same IP who threatened to "block" me for removing an incorrectly formatted deletion tag on an article, and left me a derogatory message last month. Both of their addresses come from Quebec and the US border so I'm going to assume it's a troll who won't leave me alone. I took the liberty of crossing out their comment. - Support: A not very well known series with only three titles. The first game is the most notable of the series, and so should just be called "MediEvil". Cheers, κατάσταση 17:20, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Comment this is an improperly formatted multimove request -- 70.51.46.39 (talk) 05:32, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
- If this is moved, the other article will get a move request later. FunkMonk (talk) 09:20, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
- Support only if the first game goes to the base name. For one thing, this isn't much of a "series" at all: there's one game called "MediEvil", a second called "MediEvil 2", and a "reimagined" version of the first game for portable. As such the first game has a good claim to being the primary topic. However, this should have been a multi-move request. The worst outcome would be moving this article to MediEvil (series) with MediEvil left redirecting to it. A dab page with only two articles (the first game and the series; again, the sequel isn't called "MediEvil") would also be a poor outcome.--Cúchullain t/c 18:26, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Is it too late to make it a multi-move? Not familiar with that, anyone feel free to modify my request. FunkMonk (talk) 18:42, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- It's a bit late as it's already been open for a week, but I'll convert it for you now.--Cúchullain t/c 19:12, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Post-close help needed
[edit]- MediEvil → MediEvil (series) has been done.
However,
- MediEvil (video game) → MediEvil awaits checking and fixing of links to MediEvil.
As closer, I should do this, and eventually I will, but if you gamers will check and fix some it will get done sooner.
To help, go to Special:WhatLinksHere/MediEvil, and look for pages that are articles that link to MediEvil. Go to the article and fix them to link either to MediEvil (series) or to MediEvil (video game); even if the intended target is the game, don't leave it, since that makes it impossible to tell when we're done; use the video game redirect to make it clear which is intended, piped as [[MediEvil (video game)|MediEvil]];. Thanks. Dicklyon (talk) 15:09, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
I modified the Template:Sony_Franchises to link MediEvil (series); after that propagates, the list of linking pages should shrink some. Dicklyon (talk) 20:46, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
@Amakuru: I think it's ready for the second-half move now. All links to MediEvil are in User and Talk and Wikipedia spaces. It's possible I missed a relevant project page, so I'll have another look. Dicklyon (talk) 21:55, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks for sorting this out, Dicklyon. — Amakuru (talk) 06:32, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
