Evolving definition

I must say the first time I saw the article original article describing mechado as a stew I was a little unsure. I think the updated description is more faithful to the original meaning of mechado. Mechado whenever I had it was sliced round pieces of beef with a fatty marbled center mixed with a wonderful soy and tomato sauce. The current picture is not consistent with my understanding of the dish. Mechado is not kaldereta although it seems people have increasingly started thinking they are.
