Checklist

[edit]

Is a lengthy checklist for a trading card game really appropriate for an encyclopedia article? Shouldn't that be relegated to a fansite or something? This game is from some years ago and the company that made it no longer exists. I'm thinking the lists should be commented-out or removed altogether. - Salamurai (talk) 07:04, 6 October 2011 (UTC) (following copied from Salamurai's talk page)[reply]

PLEASE don't delete this. I don't understand why you would feel the need to remove information about a topic. Leave that information in-tact. There are few places to find that type of information.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.189.145.89 (talkcontribs) 17:38, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
It's an encyclopedia, not a fansite or collector's guide. I put a note on the article's talk page about it, no one responded, so I removed the list. There's no source for it, the game is out of print and the company closed. If your only reason to include is "it's not available anywhere else" than it's not verifiable information and it doesn't belong. - Salamurai (talk) 01:16, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding of an encyclopedia is that it is a source of information. Why do you want to limit the amount of information available? I was not aware that you had put a note on the article's talk page or I would have responded. I think you should consider that within a few days of your edit that I noticed and had wanted that information. I knew that it was there previously and found the edit history. Wouldn't you then say perhaps that there is interest in this information? As for the source - the game itself would be the source. Some fans either combined resources to gather information about the release or some fortunate person with all the figures and cards entered it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.159.244.27 (talk) 16:18, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How do I write up the source as being the released toys and packaging for the toys? IE Super Hero Showdown/Marvel Legends Showdown series of released figures and collectible card game from ToyBiz 2005-2006. Also - it's not just the toys that should be listed, but also the packed-in card game as well.

I'm looking at this similar to how the Star Wars Kenner action figures are listed in the wikipedia. What is gained by removing this information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.159.244.27 (talk) 19:21, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I created a Wikipedia User ID now - the comments relating to the desire to retain the checklist of figures and cards for this article are mine - multiple IP's are from the two places I've used a computer recently. Please feel to use my talk page or whatever other commonly accepted means of communication one would normally use here. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JYlvisaker (talkcontribs) 19:43, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok - here's the deal - if I don't hear back from Salamurai within a few days I'll put the list back in the article. Beyond that if Salamurai still wants to remove it, I request that we find a third party to weigh in on the situation. JYlvisaker (talk) 16:27, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
