Dame Marguerite Patten
[edit]Marguerite Patten was made a Dame. A book of hers I have, "Cooking for Victory", shows her as Dame Marguerite Patten, DBE. (Danny Newman 11:16, 12 December 2011 (UTC))
- She was made a CBE last year. See here. When was she made a dame?
- I can find no reference on the web to the book "Cooking for Victory", that you refer to. William Avery (talk) 12:49, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
- The place to look is the London Gazette, which shows Patten on this page of 12 June 2010, and the heading C.B.E. on the previous page. It's very rare for a CBE to be raised to a DBE just 18 months after the award of the CBE. Her previous award, an OBE, was gazetted on 14 June 1991 (see here and here), an interval of 19 years. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:10, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Publication year of "Cookery in Colour"
[edit]My copy of Patten's book, Cookery in Colour, says it was first published in 1960, not 1961 as this article currently claims. Can someone check this?

- Patten's Guardian obituary gives 1960 as the year, too. William Avery (talk) 08:24, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
