[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: not moved. Instead, an article should be written on the u-22 team. -- Tavix (talk) 06:11, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
Malaysia national under-23 football team → Malaysia national under-22 football team – the team has been replaced with under-22 team and no longer be an under-23 within AFC JebatMalaya (talk) 10:08, 3 September 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. — Sam Sailor 23:51, 10 September 2016 (UTC))

- Comment – Can you present any WP:RS news for the replacement? Molecule Extraction (talk) 10:23, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Molecule Extraction: New branding of the national squad.[1] You can even go to the official website of the national team and it only list the main squad and the under-22. Although, it's in Malay.[2][3] AFF Nation football team has changed from u23 team to u22 in order to save cost of preparing two different team.[4]JebatMalaya (talk) 10:56, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Support– As been stated on the team official website. As well like England national under-21 football team and Sweden national under-21 football team which do not have U-23 team. Molecule Extraction (talk) 12:38, 4 September 2016 (UTC)- Comment: Please note that the official name has no direct relevance in choosing the article title. Many people find this surprising, but there are good reasons for this policy... Please read both of those linked pages. Andrewa (talk) 21:48, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: So it is good then as per your comment below, we should have two articles. The Malaysia national under-22 football team should be created from now, while the Malaysia national under-23 football team should be preserved along with their records. So I will retracting my support for this move while supporting the idea for existence of two articles. Molecule Extraction (talk) 05:32, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: So, I believe, this is the best solution to have both unique pages to represent a different teams as of right now, any new information on current U-23 team page is outdated and a bit misleading regarding to current situation with U-22 teams. - Oppose - given that everything on the page refers to U-23 tournaments, including the recent 2016 AFC U-23 Championship, at which the team performed, it seems a bit premature to be renaming this. Once the new team starts playing we can see what's what. — Amakuru (talk) 18:43, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

- Comment – The team has not played as U-23 since June 2015 at Southeast Asian Games which when the team was disbanded after that with a new coach take over for preparation of SEA Games Project 2007 as U-22 side. Any game listed since then was played with current team of official U-22 side or younger as listed in their official website. As stated before, Football Association of Malaysia has been rebuilt the youth squad with U-22 side instead of having two seperated team of U-23 and U-22 to save cost where any new tournament involving U-23 was played using the U-22 side as suggested by AFF. The article do need a major update with to clarify the matter sooner.JebatMalaya (talk) 04:01, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. Given the rather confusing history, far better to have two articles, one on each team. Andrewa (talk) 21:44, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
