Russian-language name for the city
[edit]From below, we checked at the local public library and found that Russia has 31 indigeneous groups, (one Alaskan Inuits, part of US) and that the borders of Europe and Asia are "muddy today" (e.g., maps online that Russia is all of Europe). We also found that a province or region may be termed a republic all of which "report to Moscow" (the federal or national seat of Russia). We simply began that Polish, Ukranian and Russian are three distinct languages, and that all the wikipedias in the "these new sets" start otherwise. I am on this site after Russia bombed a shopping mall in central Ukraine "with 1,000 Western-style dress shoppers" reportedly at the mall. I'm a third generation Polish American with relatives living in Poland today. The party below indicates that wiki "is unhelpful" regarding the current situation. 2603:7081:2000:3EF3:64F4:D0FE:7A53:FDDF (talk) 14:31, 1 July 2022 (UTC)JARacino2603:7081:2000:3EF3:64F4:D0FE:7A53:FDDF (talk) 14:31, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
For some reason an editor keeps removing the Russian name for the city.[1] This seems very unhelpful, since local people in Lugansk Oblast mostly speak Russian as their native language.-- Toddy1 (talk) 19:57, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Lysychansk is in Ukraine
[edit]When visiting this article recently, I noticed that an anonymous IP had edited the article to indicate that Lysychansk is in Russia; I reverted this.
Today, I checked back, and noticed that another anonymous IP had made a similar edit to indicate that Lysychansk is in the Luhansk People's Republic; I also reverted this.
Without wanting to get into an edit war, I wish to advance the proposition that, at least for the duration of the ongoing war, locations within the de jure territory of Ukraine ought to be specified as being part of Ukraine (if perhaps under occupation), until such a time as a peace settlement is reached which changes this fact. I am open to considering alternative NPoV solutions to this, but currently intend to treat edits which allege that Russian-occupied territory is part of Russia as vandalism. Endovior (talk) 20:43, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- this does not reflect the reality, territory of Luhansk is fully under LPR control. 103.225.23.94 (talk) 09:34, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- There will be disruptive IPs in such areas, so the page has been protected as a result. Mellk (talk) 23:45, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- I understand the need for page protection, but for an entire year? 182.239.149.95 (talk) 12:09, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
