Mundu

[edit]

Some one created a seperate article for Mundu. I feel it should be merged into Lungi and redirected. - Ganeshk «talk»contribs» 15:31, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Remove merge request. Added it to Dhoti page. - Ganeshk (talk) 14:13, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that Longyi be merged into Lungi. I think that the content in the Longyi article can easily be explained in the context of Lungi, and the Lungi article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of Longyi will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. 117.195.195.124 (talk) 07:44, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Longyi should be kept separate from Lungi for people who are specifically looking at Burmese history and dress. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.84.154.8 (talk) 01:33, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also disagree, and concur with the comment above - people looking for information about Burmese longyis do not want to be overwhelmed with information about India.119.15.73.5 (talk) 20:12, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To not merge on the grounds that there are culturally important differences between India and South Asia that warrant separate coverage. Klbrain (talk) 10:48, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Formal request has been received to merge: Longyi into Lungi; dated: May 24, 2020. Proposer's Rationale: They are about Same cloth with Same Origin and Same Name only the later one filled with nationalistic non important History and Description, can easly intigrated in a one NonPOV neutral article. —

I agree. It talks about the same thing. There does not need to be another article just for another country.Bengalipotatoeater (talk) 06:56, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Longyi and Lungyi are often equated. However actually, Burmese Longyi has own number of history in ancient Burmese tradition and culture. So i oppose. Btw above 'agree votes' are come from a few edited IP and newly created account (may be a sock of IP). VocalIndia (talk) 18:03, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Although related, the Longyi comes from South East Asia, and the Lungi of the Indian subcontinent. BTW, why does Mundu have its own separate article? Mundu of India should be merged with Lungi before Longyi of South East Asia can be dealt with. Nolicmahr (talk) 16:08, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

From what I see, their is a stronger case for a merging Lungi with the Indian Mundu, than with the Southeast Asian Longyi. Nolicmahr (talk) 16:12, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Longyi is regarded as the national costume of Burma, so it should stand alone as one main article. Zin Win Hlaing (talk) 05:24, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
