Not universal, Polyteisthic religions are banned and prosecuted by Bahá'í

[edit]

All polytheistic religions are banned from Bahá'í temples. This article needs to be rewritten to remove all those erroneous assertions. Bahá'í does NOT allow Polytheistic religion enter any temple, or exercise any worship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.143.60.86 (talk) 20:48, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Individuals from any religion are welcome. The ceremonies of other religions are not perse. Indeed formal ceremonies of various religions can only take place in places of their own designations for which the Baha'i Temple would not qualify. But some religions exclude non-believers while the Baha'i Temples are open to all. And Baha'is do not accept contributions for the Temple from non-Baha'is. notable visitors?

[edit]

Should there be a section noting notable visitors? (Notable per wikipedia - already have a page, or should) - for example the President of Iceland was the first head of State on an official state visit - [1] I'm sure there are others.... There there's the other Temples....--Smkolins (talk) 16:16, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(claim of exceptional fame requires a source)

[edit]

in responding to this request for proof, I wonder if a single reference would do it justice. I'm considering a whole section devoted to articles, awards, reviews, even adding the notable visitors mentioned above.

move the whole thing to my sandbox - I'll post a cleaned up version here for folks to review - see User:Smkolins/Sandbox --Smkolins (talk) 15:03, 13 January 2008 (UTC) ... having left this for comment for a while and not getting any I'll go ahead and look at merging it into the article and handle the request for citation.--Smkolins (talk) 23:18, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

tourism section with replicas

[edit]

Just wondering about the appropriateness of

In India, during the Hindu festival Durga Puja, several times a replica of the Lotus Temple has been made as a pandal, a temporary structure set up to venerate the goddess Durga.[5] In Sikkim a permanent replica is of the Hindu Legship Mandir, dedicated to Shivaeness.

If I understand this right there are temple "replicas" in the shape of the Lotus Temple being constructed by non-Baha'i institutions and housing idols. As such I'm wondering if they are really "replicas" as much as they are in the shape of a lotus and are simply trying to gain notariety by claiming to be replicas of the Lotus Temple. Anyone got a ref of any statement by the Baha'is of India on such "replicas"?--Smkolins (talk) 20:00, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sydney Opera House

[edit]

Hi, is the Lotus Temple construction inspired by the Sydney Opera House? They are very similar and seem to have began construction around the same time (1950's) Uneffect (talk) 17:47, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Sidney House is meant to evoke a view of sails while the Lotus Temple is to evoke a Lotus flower.
