Following moved from article - My father, Arthur Leonard Birch (1903-1998) grew up in Coventry, as I was to do 1939-1961. As a boy he lived in Northumberland Road close to the Nuneaton branch line and loved watching the trains in their LNWR livery. He also knew Exhall station and at Christmas used to sing 'Sing choirs of angels/Sing in Exhall station' as part of 'O come all ye faithful'. In about 1950 he took me to see Exhall station and it was in a sadly ruinous state, having just been closed. He passed on his love of railways to me as I have to my sons so we have a family enthusiasm which has lasted for about a century.
