Actually I think you are wrong. Maybe both are correct. For what it's worth my grandmother and mother baked these at weekends growing up - shop cakes were ab it of a luxury. Grandmother left the recipe in a book: puff pastry, raspberry jam, layer of sponge containing ground almonds or just almond paste. Cook and when cool top with icing and flaked coconut.
