Livelihood and Sustainability

[edit]

I suggest to use another definition for livelihood. The last part ("for meeting the requirements of the self and his/her household on a sustainable basis with dignity") is highly normative and not optimal as a definition. The SL definition is much more normative as a concept but livelihoods are very frequently not sustainable or dignifying. They are simply "means of trying to secure survival". How successful these efforts are is a completely different question. D. Cordoba-Bahle (talk) 16:25, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is livelihood the same as career? Maybe livelihood is more a means and career a progress?

There is a different shade of meaning. Does that mean you want to write a separate article for "livelihood"? Or is there another article that would make a better target for this redirect? Art LaPella (talk) 21:05, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is much more than "a different shade of meaning". I removed the redirect. --Alter70 (talk) 13:40, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Reference Section

Not all facts have required sources. The sources that are present are often links to entire PDF documents with a broad range of theory covered. As a whole, the majority of the 45 links listed in the References section are just listed to indicate certain authors' contributions to the topic of Livelihood literature and practice. The page does not attempt to distill or summarize these authors' findings. Weuerle (talk) 05:08, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming to Sustainable Livelihood

[edit]

The majority of the work done on this page is pertaining to Sustainable Livelihoods. I propose renaming this page "Sustainable Livelihood" and restructuring the sections of the page to support research on SLs. Weuerle (talk) 01:52, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
