Table is much easier to read and I suggest that it be made the main article. Also perhaps a definition of what a builder is?say1988 19:12, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- I absolutely agree! KLinch (talk) 21:34, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
Members
[edit]They are not "members" until they are inducted in the summer. Gwynn and Ripken should be removed until that time.Kinston eagle 01:52, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- See my response at Talk:List of members of the Baseball Hall of Fame (alphabetical). MisfitToys 02:14, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Photographs
[edit]I think that there should be a photo of each of the members of the first induction class, currently Ruth has a picture. Timpcrk87 02:56, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well, in initially selecting photos I was trying to include a range of figures from different eras, and hoped that they would appear on the page roughly even with their election year. (I did all that quite a while ago, so there have probably been some good photos added to the site since then.) MisfitToys 03:01, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Any reason why the first photo has a finger in it? Can't we do better than that?
Teams
[edit]I think it'd be great if we could add what team each player was inducted as, how feasible is this? Redwolf24 (talk) 00:01, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Clemente
[edit]Shouldn't he be listed as elected in his first year of eligibility?
I know they kind of bent the rules in his case, so it wasn't really the same procedure. But in the strictest technical sense, he was elected at the very first opportunity. 99.140.175.108 (talk) 05:03, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Inline Citations for HOF references have changed
[edit]The Baseball Hall of Fame has changed their web layout and therefore the links to the player pages have changed. To update the links correctly should the date accessed also be changed?

Nationality of Members
[edit]I had inserted the nationalities of the Hall of Famers, as the sport is growing increasingly more diverse in ethnicity, and this is the formatting used in other international sports, such as soccer. I know that at least Muboshgu is against the theory, so I thought I'd open it up to a broader discussion. yuristache (talk) 11:48, July 23, 2010 (UTC)
- I'm glad you brought it here instead of engaging in an edit war. I was going to suggest to you that you should bring it to the talk page. I'm not against the inclusion of the flag icons per se, but as this article has gone through rigorous examinations, I figure there should be consensus for any change like that. I'll go along with whatever that consensus is. --Muboshgu (talk) 03:55, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. Edit wars are nothing more than a waste of time. I realize that it looks like just American flags down the page for the most part, but it is forethought for the members from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Cuba and Panama that are likely to emerge in the very near future. Looking ahead to the next five years of eligible candidates, between one-third and one-half have non-United State backgrounds; this also reflects on the current makeup of the game today in the MLB. I could see delaying the implementation of nationalities on the page for a few years until it becomes more striking, but it could also be implemented immediately and then maintained over time. yuristache (talk) 12:11, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm...at present there's, how many non-Americans? Clemente, Cepeda, Aparicio, Marichal, Perez, Carew, some Cubans in the Negro Leagues, and a few early Brits? I guess there's a bunch who will get in, but mostly not for several years - Alomar is the only non-American likely to get in in the near future, no? john k (talk) 16:58, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
FYI, I mentioned merging the above article (at AfD) in with this one. If any of the article's caretakers have reason to object to this feel free to rebut me at the AfD. ThemFromSpace 17:58, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Barry Larkin
[edit]Barry Larkin is now in the HOF. Deletion of my work will consitute limiting my free speach and I WILL SUE those responsible. 69.126.207.62 (talk) 19:08, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sue? Really? He may have been voted in, but he isn't inducted until the summer. Call your lawyer if you feel the need. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:09, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Done, I'll find out who you are using your ISP number and billing address! You are blocking the inclusion of Barry Larkin because he is black. You are a racist! 69.126.207.62 (talk) 19:15, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

All-American Girls Professional Baseball League
[edit]The inductees from the AAGPBL should be added to this page: there are currently (2019) 11 players. See All-American Girls Professional Baseball League § National Women's Baseball Hall of Fame inductees for a list of names & dates. KLinch (talk) 21:31, 18 September 2019 (UTC
- They are not members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The National Women's Baseball Hall of Fame apparently had a website which has now expired, but which has no affiliation to the actual National Baseball Hall of Fame. Even though the Hall has an AABPBL exhibit, no players from the AAGPBL have ever been elected to the National Baseball HoF. Penale52 (talk) 11:37, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
