WikiProject discussion about this article
[edit]@ Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tree of Life#"List of mammal species" article. ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 15:05, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
- Either way Cloud forest, you need to use a bulleted list format User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk 15:14, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- This sort of pointless list, of enormous size and basically no encyclopedic purpose, and of course no citations, is exactly what Wikipedia does not need. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:42, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- It pretend to be printable version for field workers.Cloud forest (talk) 15:49, 25 September 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cloud forest (talk • contribs) 15:48, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- ...which is fine and dandy for Wikiversity, but here we are playing "Encyclopedia", dude - not Useful Document Repository. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 16:26, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- Also, I wonder what kind of field worker you envision who needs a full alphabetical list of all mammal species w/o any further information. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 16:28, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

- I have begun to work on this article, and I would like to note that there are articles with lists that are much longer than this. Leo1pard (talk) 16:51, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
Co-work.
[edit]Thank you.
- An appreciation: the blue "Contents" box reflects in best way what a list is. Narky Blert in that way you are editing it would reflect the generas not the species.
- List are numerical or alphabetical, other form of presentation is a table (to consider). Cloud forest (talk) 18:58, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- As someone who wrote List of parrots, I can tell you, from the amount of things you need in your list, do not attempt a table. At this size, a bulleted-list format is the way you need to go if you wanna make it readable to the extent possible User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk 17:49, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- Anchors are very appropriate Cloud forest (talk) 18:08, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- List of mammal species/navigation is a rehash of List of mammal genera and is not the answer to the navigation problem User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk 19:18, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- You can type Control F in your computer to find Cloud forest (talk) 21:45, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- How is that different from List of mammal genera? And how exactly does that separate article help with navigation? User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk 22:24, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- It is a printable version and it is not hierarchicalCloud forest (talk) 22:33, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- Cramming them all together makes it very unreadable especially if you're planning on printing it out User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk 22:37, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
- Not to mention that it’s trying to use Wikipedia to violate WP:NOTDIR policy. Kingofaces43 (talk) 13:34, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

- I don’t think you understand the purpose of these talk pages. Dab solver is indeed a tool and, as said on the article, one this article very much needs. This is not new information User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk 21:36, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

- Why what? User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk 02:03, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- For "why" turn to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of mammal species. Please do not tell me you have managed to remain oblivious of that discussion all through the last week. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 06:08, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
