POV

[edit]

By what criteria do you define someone as a former Jew? One cannot change from a Jew to a non-Jew. This list seems to be someone's POV.

Rename?

[edit]

Should this list be renamed something like List of former adherents of Judaism? Should it be limited only to those whose notability relates to their conversion?--T. Anthony (talk) 10:04, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, as per Wikipedia policy, stand alone lists of people should only include individuals whose notability is in the area of the list. At a very minimum, that would require that they be notable for their conversion or religion in general. Locke9k (talk) 21:12, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Info on living persons

[edit]

I am going through the list and removing living people whose ex-Jewishness is not clear and/or poorly cited. For instance Bob Dylan, since nobody knows if he has perhaps come back to Judaism. Kitfoxxe (talk) 13:54, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The list was not as bad as I expected. I am also working on List of former Muslims and List of former Christians.Kitfoxxe (talk) 14:01, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about Jews having converted to Buddhism?

[edit]

Aren't there any former Jews that are now buddhists? I can't believe it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.34.129.156 (talk) 04:29, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conversion to Atheism

[edit]

There are a lot of them (just to name a few that popped into my head: Larry David, Woody Allen, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris (author), Richard Feynman, Sigmund Freud, Stephen Fry, Karl Marx, Daniel Radcliffe, George Soros and Mark Zuckerberg) but atheism is not exactly a religion. Does that chapter belong here? Oh, well (talk) 23:47, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RSs are needed. You can't presume they were ever anyting but an atheist. Ethnicity is another matter, and it seems confused and conflated on this article, which should probably be deleted. The Artist AKA Mr Anonymous (talk) 17:31, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
