Wikipedia:Notability Bus killings in Punjab Insurgency widely reported in WP:RS sources

[edit]

Wikipedia:Notability Bus killings in Punjab Insurgency were Widely reported in WP:RS sources such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, LA Times, India Today, The Tribune etc, which are cited here.

These details were buried in the long List of terrorist incidents in Punjab, India, and this is important topic that Satisfies the criteria of WP:GNG for a separate Wiki article. RogerYg (talk) 06:48, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Non WP:RS sourced incidents should not be included

[edit]

Hi User:CanadianSingh1469, We cannot include accidents or incidents from Non WP:RS sources. The incident you added was not reported in any International Newspaper or Indian newspaper as a bus puposeful ramming, instead it was reported as an accident. Wikipedia WP:OR does not allow original research based on non WP:RS sources and publisher=Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee are not WP:NPOV, and not WP:RS and should not be included here.

Your main source www.khalistanextremismmonitor.org reports it as an ACCIDENT

  • The only WP:RS News source available for the incident mentions it as an ACCIDENT

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1982/09/12/A-speeding-train-slammed-into-a-bus-packed-with/1636400651200/

34 Sikhs were killed and 11 injured when their bus was purposefully rammed into a train by police. The bus was a police bus, which was under police escort, containing Sikhs who had courted arrest as part of Dharam Yudh Morcha. Multiple Sikh leaders accused this of being a deliberate incident by the police to kill Sikhs who courted arrest.[1][2][3][4]<ref>Dhillon, Gurdarshan Singh (1992). India Commits Suicide. Singh & Singh Publishers. p. 182. RogerYg (talk) 07:36, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, we need to create separate category for such incidents with disputed claims. I have created an additional category, and added this incident with WP:NPOV and WP:RS based language
  • Again, the High quality WP:RS News source available for the incident mentions it as an ACCIDENT, as police guards were also killed, so it's hard to believe that police did it on purpose

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1982/09/12/A-speeding-train-slammed-into-a-bus-packed-with/1636400651200/

But we can include the claims of purposeful along with their references, as long as the main WP:RS source that was reported & published on Sep 12, 1982 is the main opening line of the incident. RogerYg (talk) 08:19, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
