Athletes who participated at the Wheelchair racing at the 2004 Summer Olympics could be mentioned in a section, even though it was a demonstration sport, and no medals were awarded. Bib (talk) 23:04, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page title

[edit]

The title is not strictly correct as the athletes listed here are both Olympic athletes and Paralympic athletes. I propose that the page be moved to "List of athletes who have competed in the Paralympics and Olympics". The current name implies these are Paralympians who were "allowed", as an act of charity, to come "play with the big kids" at the Olympics, when in fact they are fully legitimate Olympians. Roger (talk) 11:00, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I'll make the move. Pelmeen10 (talk) 14:56, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This article is no longer a "List of" page either. The list/table does not constitute the overwhelming majority of the page content. This page should therefor be at Athletes who have competed in the Paralympics and Olympics. Roger (talk) 20:04, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can we add "The Bladerunner" now or do we need to wait until he actually runs? Roger (talk) 17:59, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's done. Roger (talk) 10:35, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Table order

[edit]

Is the table in any particular order? If not, should it be? If so, in what order?: Alphabetical by surname? First appearance at Paralympics? First appearance at Olympics? DH85868993 (talk) 01:06, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. Now is chronological. But I think that the table is just incomplete, for example, I added Abebe Bikila, that for the moment is the first athlete to reach this target. --Kasper2006 (talk) 14:33, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Chronological by first appearance in either event is the right way to list them. Fyi Bikila didn't compete at the Paralympics. He was due to in 1972 but the entire Ethiopian team was withdrawn, so I've removed him from the list - Basement12 (T.C) 14:50, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Chronological by target, not by first appearance. For Bikila, I put back by entering a note. As I explained to deny the news should be at least as good a source. --Kasper2006 (talk) 15:22, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
He really does not belong on this list. he did not compete at the Paralympics which is the criterion for inclusion in the list; it is not supposed to be a list of athletes who hoped to compete at both - Basement12 (T.C) 15:39, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You've anticipated: I was placing myself. I'm sorry. ;-) --Kasper2006 (talk) 15:41, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, the note you added about him trying to compete is valid but the source used was from a self published website so I've removed it for now. If a good source can be found then some mention of his circumstances would be worth adding - Basement12 (T.C) 15:44, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
