[edit]I started this, on the basis of considerable discussion. To have some model to follow, I used the List of scientific journals. Since humanities journals do not have impact factors, I left out that criterion; the choice is the responsibility of the people in each subject.
I ask the people in the social sciences--do you want to move your journals here?
or do you want to first have a List of journals in the social sciences? if you go that route, I hope it will match the other lists. DGG 03:10, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't understand why this page exists at all... wouldn't it be enough to just have list of scientific journals and list of social science journals (or some other name)? Karol 10:08, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Karol. However, a specific point. The list of "Specific sciences" is a dogs breakfast since how do we determine which separate disciplines to include and then which of hundreds of journals in each of those disciplines is the one we are to include. For example in my field of chemistry, the Journal of the American Chemical Society is very important but it is rarely at the very top by any criteria such as impact factors. Nevertheless, the list should only include journals that have a WP article on them. Could someone please fix the Computer Science redlink? --Bduke 00:15, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Annotating the lists by noting free content, date founded, ect.
[edit]As for the comments above, I do think that this page makes sense. Separately, however, it would be nice to note whether journals have free content or not as they are added. Eventually we could even have a comparison page like this one, listing free content/impact factors/date founded ect. It would be interesting. ImpIn | (t - c) 08:42, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm curious to know why....
[edit]is that http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&newwindow=1&q=List+of+academic+journals&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi= --222.64.215.159 (talk) 23:34, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

These two searches are just a minute apart and the results have been very different. What is the specification of Google--222.64.215.159 (talk) 23:38, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Is it something to do with Search engine optimization or Google is sensitive to different string input ???--222.64.215.159 (talk) 23:43, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
If this is true, then only one Google scholar is not sufficient to the public and we need at least an alternative to ease Google scholar's sensitivity--222.64.215.159 (talk) 23:50, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- In the second search, there is an extra term "wikipedia" which alters the results. John Vandenberg (chat) 23:52, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
