These articles are absolute crap
[edit]As soon as I get the time, I'm going to go nucleur on them. I have to do some research first. -ZeroTalk 11:46, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Vanessa's origins
[edit]The start of Vanessa's history thesis begins with:
As an orphan Vanessa was adopted by a special forces officer named Lewis
There must be something wrong with my sources. The instruction states she spent her childhood in J6 ,and this is how she recieved her fighting abilities. Perhaps someone could clear this up.-ZeroTalk 17:21, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Eileen's age
[edit]How old does Eileen appear to be? Her voice makes it seems like she's 13 years old. --User:Angie Y. — Preceding undated comment added 11:31, 10 July 2006
- Every female sounds 13 years old in the majority of Japanese video games. --Serph 01:11, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Sarah's age in Virtua Fighter 5
[edit]What is Sarah's age is Virtua Fighter 5? She looks like she's still in her 20s. --User:Angie Y. — Preceding undated comment added 19:27, 5 July 2006
Sarah should be in her early 30's now, even if she doesn't look it.--Kikimaru 02:23, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well the article also said that Pai-Chan was 22 in VF5, even though she was born in 1975 so this would mean that the game takes place 1997 so yeah, Sarah in her 20s would make sense.Dark Rain
How about some PICTURES of Sarah please? The article on her brother Jackie has a great, large pic of him. Where can I find one for her? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.176.31 (talk) 03:38, 7 June 2007
I remember years back around VF3's era seeing Sarah's vital stats being slightly different (Height 177cm and weight 57kg rather than 173 and 55) Can anyone confirm what happened with this? (Her VF1 stat had her at 169cm, these game designers are rather dumb with bios.... notably Street Fighter)
Truth be told I'm far too obsessed with Sarah (VF3 version only, wish Sega would drop the VF2 outfit and stuff, that game really wasn't anything and they should realise VF3 was the best incarnation etc)
Perhaps a note should be made with Sarah having the fewest amount of hand attacks of any fighting game character? (She certainly is one of them anyway)
Last thing, I have a VF3 pic where Sarah's trousers are a bluish/cyan hue, is it a hidden feature in the game or did someoone just muck about with a photo editor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.61.28.86 (talk) 10:25, 29 June 2007

My article
[edit]Megaman Zero, stop editing my article. I play Goh at tourney level, you prolly don't. I beat japanese players in arcades, I know my bloody character more well than you do. I am not biased, I play goh for years and know people who do. -NekoKy 14:38, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- NekoKy, I'm sorry that you feel that way. The problem is that you previously make additions that have the appearance of POV pushing and are such not acceptable at wikipedia. Such behavior is forbidden and also would have a deleterious effect on the encyclopedia if I did not occasionally remove such information. Removing dubious content and adhering to the policy of WP:OWN is in the interests of wikipedia. -ZeroTalk 14:52, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
i understand that, but in almost every other fighting game article you find tons and tons of pov comments about other characters. mine aren't pov either, the general population thinks that about goh. SCs Sophitia is a big example. it is well known Goh is hard to learn up and play. his moveset is not conventional. check a source like Ign or... Anyone. They'll all say he is the hardest. More people say hes the hardest than people say that Sophitia started out weak in sc at the beginning of tournament history, and you guys allow them to say that about Soph. check her character analysis article
thats the reason.

Goh: not Japanese
[edit]Just wanted to verify: every bio I've read of Goh seems to indicate that he is unknown origin. This would be due to his kidnapping at an early age by J6 & their subsequent witholding of information regarding his origins. --Kikimaru 03:58, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
"Real" Judo
[edit]The comment about Goh's "extremely realistic" portrayal of Judo is highly questionable. Some of his moves are beautifully and accurately animated judo throws, but his overall style is not like any commonly practiced judo that I know of. If anything, his signature moves, the Tsukami-kuzushi-throw series, seem based on the stepping of katas rather than applied technique. Even then, many of the throws are heavily modified to highlight Goh's sadistic attitude, which is not reflective of Judo in spirit or execution. His modified Ouchi-Kouchi-Ouchi, which features a kick to the face of the fallen opponent in place of the third sweep, is a perfect example.
Goh's depiction of Judo may be accurate in some respects, but it is highly stylized to fit both the vicious nature of the character and the striking-heavy fighting model of the series. If you are familiar with this kind of judo as practiced in the real world, please cite a link in the article (So I can go learn it! :P). Thanks. Daeval 07:43, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
80 percent real by my experience
[edit]ofcorse they had to change the style in order to fit the game but i practiced judo for about three years and to be honest out of all of gohs throws about six are authentic as far as his striking maybe about half are real and the rest are either modified or made upthe only reason i got the game was to see if the moves were real and i wasnt dissapointed to an extent —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.85.231.45 (talk) 14:05, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Trivia (Jacky)
[edit]The costume references mentioned in the trivia section seem to be completely irrelevant observations, it has no value on this page and I'd suggest it be removed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.214.199.149 (talk) 06:04, 10 April 2007
Why edit??? (Jacky)
[edit]Kikimaru, why did you take out his quotes and trivia? This is absurd. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ShinFuYux (talk • contribs) 18:49, 10 May 2007
I moved the quotes to WikiQuote/Virtua Fighter as it was too messy. The trivia itself was parts erronous and double-posted. Hope that clears it up. --Kikimaru 15:53, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Character descriptions need sorting out
[edit]All that is mentioned about each character is their story. The most important thing about the characters is how they play and what fighting style they use. Story is unimportant in all fighting games but expecially VF. Nobody plays it for the story so why write the article as if it is the most important factor. Goh's description seems more like what should be written. 217.42.229.221 (talk) 14:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I somewhat agree with this. If anything of the story is mentioned, put in a brief overview of the previous games' stories and then, copy the VF5 story from the manual. Then, go into a section describing the fighting styles, moves, and difficulty of use for each character.
Example:
Akira Yuki uses the Hakkyoku-Ken fighting style, a style focusing on quick elbow strikes, stinging forearm smashes, and powerful shoulder charges. In VF5, his fighting style was changed slightly to include more movement in his techniques, making him less linear than he was in the past. However, these factors make Akira one of the hardest characters to master, yet at the same time, one of the most devastating to face in a fight.
Something like that could be good for the fighting move section. Expand it a little more and give the names of some of his moves and some strategies as well would also help. Wingedregent (talk) 20:37, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree with this. In fact, the characters' separate pages should have just been left untouched. Angie Y. (talk) 19:17, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm trying to improve on the character descriptions by adding more info and focus on their fighting styles, but my changes are getting ruthlessly reverted by 99.168.78.169 (talk). I don't understand why. Story has never been the focus of the characters in VF, but deep and authentic fighting styles has. That's what makes VF stand out from other fighting games. Could you please discuss here why you don't think we should include brief descriptions on their fighting styles? And please stop reverting all my changes, I'm also doing improvements in other parts of the text. Change the parts you don't like instead. - Wintran (talk) 02:13, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've now tried to make Akira's description better by moving around the text a bit and rewrote some of the story part. I moved the description of the fighting style a bit down to make the text flow better. Please tell me what you think. - Wintran (talk) 03:06, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Split Akira Yuki 01/06/12
[edit]This split has been requested because:
""Obvious reason" is notability through populrity and te guest appearances."
I am opposed to this split because, per WP:SPLIT, the rationale given is not a reason to split. The 2 usual reasons for splitting are:
1) The article is too large. This is not valid in this case because the article is <40k in length.
2) A section of the article has become too large and dominates the article. This is not valid in this case, the section concerned is of a similar size to other sections.
In addition, the section concerned is not referenced and so would not make a viable article. At this time, this section is not ready to split. Op47 (talk) 13:08, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Siba
[edit]Is there any source for the speculation of Siba using silat? I am very familiar with silat and that sword barely even looks Southeast Asian. Seeing as Siba is an Arab, I think it is quite clear that the developers were aiming for a Middle Eastern scimitar. Until someone can find a source, I'm removing that sentence.
