NB. The page is correctly named "Jewish Kabbalists", to distinguish from the many non-Jewish "Cabalists"/esotericists who syncretically incorporated Christian Kabbalah and occult Hermetic Qabalah in their teachings and practice. (Cabala became a major part of non-Jewish European culture, rather different in form from its Jewish origins). Christian Cabalists and Hermetic Qabalists should not be listed here.

Nor should (usually Jewish) academics of Jewish mysticism, such as Gershom Scholem, be listed here. They are critical historians rather than Kabbalists. There is a new page, still underdeveloped, to list them: List of Jewish mysticism academics (may need renaming, as it also includes non-academia historical researchers. Eg. "List of Jewish mystical scholars" - too vague/mistakenly could include theological scholars; "List of Jewish mysticism academics and researchers" - better?).

Only particularly kabbalistic Hasidic Rebbes should be listed here. Wider, comprehensive, listing of Hasidic leaders should be added instead to the new, undeveloped page: Timeline List of Hasidic leaders. April8 (talk) 21:54, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
