Awards
[edit]Her awards need to be added. They are listed here:
-- MelanieN (talk) 16:23, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
- @MelanieN: They can look like Glenn's, but often specific details on the awards are not known. They usually start off like Lovell's, until additional details can be added in. Don't worry about the ribbons, I do not think that is excessively common (and I do not really like them personally, but that is another matter). Summary: you can just add a bulleted list in a section named similar to the example articles. Kees08 (Talk) 03:12, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I knew I wouldn't be able to do them with the ribbons. If I can just make a bulleted list I'll do that. -- MelanieN (talk) 04:56, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]@Buckshot06, AustralianRupert, Fettlemap, Kees08, Nick-D, and Hohum: Thank you all for your improvements and additions and input here. I have never seen such a quick and helpful response from a WikiProject. I always knew that MilHist was a very active project so I hoped for some help, but you guys kind of blew me away! -- MelanieN (talk) 17:36, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- No worries, happy to help. Thanks for your efforts. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 00:40, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

- I do have an interest in biography, but this was only the second article I have done on a female military officer. The first was Ronne Froman some years ago; does it need any help? -- MelanieN (talk) 14:38, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

- Comment: I am writing this in present tense because I assume this DYK will not run until after June 29 when she assumes command. At that time the article's future tense will be changed to present tense. -- MelanieN (talk) 02:47, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
Moved to mainspace by MelanieN (talk). Self-nominated at 02:47, 16 June 2019 (UTC).
- Moved to mainspace within seven days; long enough; within policy; hook right length, properly formatted, interesting, accurate and neutral; QPQ done, no image. G'day MelanieN, the only query I have is whether she will be promoted to major general when she assumes command, as is usually the case in most armies at divisional level, or whether she will remain a brigadier general? Current commander is apparently a major general. Any idea? Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 02:12, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
- G'day Peacemaker, and thanks for the review. None of the reporting has said so - neither civilian nor military press - so I am going to have to assume not. -- MelanieN (talk) 03:47, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, no worries. I would keep a weather eye out for the formal announcement in case she is promoted, but on the basis of information currently available, this is GTG. I recommend this doesn't run until after June 29 just to allow time to confirm her rank before it runs. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:52, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Peacemaker67: You were right! The articles about her taking command are referring to her as Major General. Good call! I have updated this item and
will update the articlesome nice people already updated the article, so that this DYK is now ready to promote. MelanieN alt (talk) 15:23, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Category
[edit]Category:Army War College alumni is a soft redirect. I am not sure what to do with it, I think the category needs changed. Kees08 (Talk) 03:07, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, I fixed it. -- MelanieN (talk) 04:44, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- You might already know about this, but in case you didn't, I use importStylesheet('User:Anomie/linkclassifier.css'); // Linkback: User:Anomie/linkclassifier.css in my common.js file. It highlights DAB pages and things like the soft redirect with a yellow background so I can find and fix them easily. It can get annoying on some backgrounds, but the benefits are worth it to me.
