Agatha Russell played an important role in raising young Bertrand Russell when is parents died. Her radicalism went beyond the accepted attitude of Whig liberalism. She interested herself in the women's suffrage movement, in land reform generally, and in Irish Home Rule.The Irish Land League founder, Michael Davitt, was a close associate.
