Including Douglas of Queensberry?

[edit]

@User:Urve, I don't mind removing the entry for Douglas, honestly, as I see what you are saying. Would you say that he shouldn't be mentioned at all? Or could we say the following on this page?:

In 2014, Marquess of Queensbury, appeared on Mike Tyson Mysteries, which aired on Adult Swim until 2020. Eric Thurm of The A.V. Club said that Marquess was a gay character[1] and he was based on a homosexual man named John Douglas, the 9th Marquess of Queensberry.

If he shouldn't be mentioned, then would also mean that he also be removed from List of gay characters in animation and List of animated series with LGBTQ characters: 2010–2014 pages too. I'd just like more of your thoughts here. --Historyday01 (talk) 15:12, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Historyday01: Your rewrite is fine, but I don't see the claim supported that the historical figure was homosexual in the sources on his article, or in the one you cite, nor anything I can find myself. This seems to suggest he was anti-gay and didn't identify as gay. Omitting the word "homosexual" from the description of the real figure would be fine with me -- this character does seem to be based on this figure, as he was instrumental to boxing regulations, etc. Though, someone might take issue with that description being WP:OR since it's also not supported by any sources (and I can't find any), but I don't feel strongly. Regarding deletion from the other articles: Whatever is decided should apply across other articles, I agree, since this is (IMO) a sourcing dispute. Urve (talk) 22:29, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, that makes sense. I'll add in the revised text to the main article shortly and then remove Marquess from those other two articles.--Historyday01 (talk) 23:36, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
