Oppose - as Talk:Lu Lin (footballer), it is not en.wp practice to distinguish on variations in romanization systems. Neither Lu Lin, or the other with an umlaut are real names like we might (but also usually don't) distinguish a German vs an American name because of lack of an umlaut in the American, but representations of Chinese characters in a romanization system. The system distinguishes a closed "u" with an umlaut yes, but it isn't an umlaut that is part of the real name as German, only a representation. This is en.wp practice (as the status quo on these articles indicates) and I believe should be written into WP:PINYIN. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:55, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Support Lü Bin because a diacritic is sufficient enough if there is no other. Oppose Lu Bin - I didn't know what a "sprinter" is until I found sprint (running). However, "(sprinter)" should help readers a lot more. --George Ho (talk) 04:11, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
