By definition? What definition of "civilian" are you using that a 14-year-old livestock herder doesn't qualify under? If he was found trespassing on West Bank territory, he should have been arrested or made to leave - not summarily executed. Folohsor (talk) 01:14, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"in Israel"

[edit]

The West Bank isn't part of Israel, nor will it ever be part of Israel. The categories listing this event as occurring "in Israel" should be removed immediately. ...

I put that category for consistency since other attacks in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem also have the category, like the 2023 Neve Yaakov shooting and 2023 Ramot Junction attack. Chomik1129 (talk) 19:49, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A 14-year old child shepherding livestock is not a "violent hostile invader" Folohsor (talk) 01:08, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unrelated?

[edit]

@Hila Livne: Please explain what about the background is unrelated to this article and start a discussion before removing the section entirely. The sources covering this murder included that information as background, so it should be fair to include it as background for this article as well. Chomik1129 (talk) 21:18, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Was just about to open this discussion. I'm not a native English speaker so I apologize for any English mistakes. This background is justifying the murder. Please bring a source to "which have been declared illegal by the international community". The background of the west bank is not related if you don't add all the terrorist attacks that occurred toward Jews in the last 20 years from the West Bank to Israel and inside it. the way it is written now it is bias and justifies this cruel murder. Hila Livne (talk) 05:23, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I already cited the source that says they were declared illegal. "The international community considers the settlements illegal, though Israel disputes this." I don't see how the background justifies the murder. It's only repeating what reliable sources have used for the background. Chomik1129 (talk) 09:50, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This 14 years old boy was brutally murdered and his body was corrupted by 1 to 3 Palestinian man, his clothes were scattered all over the place - how would you react if this was in the U.S or Europe? Hila Livne (talk) 05:24, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with what Hila Livne said Suggesting it was him to blame for the murder, by adding that the settlers are there illegally is not encyclopedic חושב שחושב (talk) 14:35, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move page? Split page?

[edit]

The Israeli settler attacks / violence / rampages have gained more coverage than the death of Benjamin Achimeir himself. Suggest new page title? Killing of Benjamin Achimeir and subsequent Israeli settler attacks'? Or split the page to April 2024 Israeli settler rampages?

  1. Associated Press - focuses on the settler attacks: Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank went on the largest rampage against Palestinians there since the war in Gaza began
  2. Reuters - focuses on the settler attacks: the Palestinian Health Ministry reported at least one person was killed in an Israeli settler rampage near Ramallah

There is enough here to establish WP:GNG. If this article will not be renamed, we can split off the settler attacks as a separate article. There is precedent 2023 Huwara shooting and Huwara rampage. starship.paint (RUN) 14:50, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Split. The riots received enough coverage to warrant their own article. Chomik1129 (talk) 18:26, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Split April 2024 Israeli settler rampages. starship.paint (RUN) 14:05, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
