This Love
This Love is NOT a cover of the Veronicas. Kesha wrote the song, so the Veronicas version is a Kesha cover! ;-)

- Actually she wrote "This Love" for the Veronicas. So her singing it would probably still be a cover, even though she wrote it. (She proabably sang on the demo version). 155.69.192.97 (talk) 05:12, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Right Round video
Is this really the same singer as the one featured in Flo-Rida's video "Right Round" ? Because to me she seems to be rather black in the video while she looks rather white on her Myspace page?--Daondo (talk) 21:01, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- She is the featured female vocals on the song, but is not in the video... - Adolphus79 (talk) 23:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

- Keyshia Cole is in the Flo Rida video while Ke$ha did the lyrics. Similar names, I was confused too. --82.141.225.169 (talk) 12:14, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

"LACE AND LEATHER" What does it mean by "Lace and Leather" by Britney Spears? She hasn't have a video for that song. Did she co-write the song? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.27.63.103 (talk) 22:15, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Article Issues?
Regarding this edit by Alankc, please show me where any of those issue templates are needed in this article?
- Additional references - 15 aren't enough?
- Fan Site - What about this article is anything resembling fancruft?
- WP:OR - Where in this article is there anything that is not cited by a reference?
- Factual Accuracy - what is disputed?
- Notability - Already survived one AfD, clearly passes WP:MUSICBIO...
- Context - The lead makes a clear introduction as to who she is, what could a reader be confused by?
- Expand - Sure... as much as I believe that every article needs expanded, but there is only so much information available about some subjects...
- Lead Expansion - Alright, I admit this one has some merit... The lead could probably use another line or two...
- External Links - Which of the external links does not comply with WP:EL?
- Footnotes - Did you miss the inline citations throughout this article?
- Orphan - What?!?!?
I think that this was either a mistake, a bad faith edit, or someone just didn't bother reading the article first... As such, I have removed them, please discuss before restoring... - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:17, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Picture?
This is Kesha's press page by RCA (for journalists to use when writing about her) http://www.rcamusicgrouppress.com/index.php?artist=Kesha Does that qualify the pictures on the website for fair use? 155.69.192.146 (talk) 09:20, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- No... because those image are owned by RCA, see WP:NFC#UULP, and the rest of WP:NONFREE... promotional (press release) photos are generally frowned upon due to the copyright being held by the promotional entity (in this case, RCA)... If you can email RCA, and get them to release one of the images into the public domain (or even under one of the Creative Commons licenses), then we could use it... - Adolphus79 (talk) 14:52, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you wish to add a photo of Ke$ha, you will need it to be released to the public domain. If you take a picture of Ke$ha and you upload it to Wiki, that's ok as long as you are say it's ok. But then anyone, anywhere can use it. --82.141.225.169 (talk) 12:19, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Saying "Ke$ha/Kesha"
Is her name more like Kee-sha, and not Kesh-a, the IPA to me says Kesh-a. Just wanna make sure it's right. --82.141.225.169 (talk) 12:16, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- 'Key'-sha... - Adolphus79 (talk) 14:01, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I don't see the rationale behind citing the YouTube video with her saying her name. http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources#When_to_cite_sources ? Again, sorry if this sounds like I'm targeting whoever put the reference there. 155.69.192.168 (talk) 06:41, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Today on The Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien said "Kesh-a," not "Kee-sha." 76.219.170.8 (talk) 05:29, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
The IPA and the English respelling pronunciations do not match, in fact the current "E" in the English respelling is not listed in the English respelling pronunciation key. Apparently the IPA and Conan O'Brien pronnciations do match. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.58.142.63 (talk) 16:04, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
It's definitely Kesh-a, NOT key-sha. Listen to the her song Paris Hilton's Closet where she says her own name pronounced Kesh-a —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.81.117.155 (talk) 01:52, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Facebook page/album information.
I personally don't think Facebook is a notable source. However facebook.com/kesha is her actual FB page as said in her site: keshasparty.com, (click the FB logo at bottom left). I think a reference note saying that her information on her album has been posted to FB should be notable. --Kei_Jo (aka Keithf2008) (Talk to me, baby! :P) 11:46, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

- Oppose - The article was originally titled Kesha (singer), but her real name is Kesha Sebert, and that was the name she used for her credits previous to Ke$ha... Explanation of move
Ke$ha's real name is Kesha Sebert, but her professional recording name is Ke$ha; this is the name she is credited with on "Right Round" and "TiK ToK", which are right now her only single releases. For article titles, we often go with a person's more commonly-known name, such as Lil Wayne instead of Dwayne Carter, Eminem instead of Marshall Mathers, Katy Perry instead of Katheryn Hudson, Lady Gaga instead of Stefani Germanotta, etc. And "Ke$ha" cannot be used per MOS:TM; we cannot use special characters that stand in for letters or words. I recommend discussing before moving again. Chase wc91 01:42, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Interview with Digital Spy
Interesting interview here with DigitalSpy. Kesha gives more background on how Tik Tok came about, among other interesting facts and how she got signed. Here is the article Raintheone (talk) 03:36, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Eh re-phrase: Just for Tik Tok article, is there any more we could use from this article for Kesha's page? I'd go and edit but you all seem to be doing a great job already at keeping on top of things. Raintheone (talk) 03:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Hotel California.
It's been brought up in many of her interviews (mostly by herself) that she lives in a "treehouse/mansion" hybrid in Laurel Canyon "where the Eagles recorded Hotel California" (the song? the album?), I can't find information anywhere else that can be used to confirm the claim (that the Eagles recorded Hotel California in a mansion and not a conventional recording studio where most albums are recorded). And it's kind of hard to believe as well, can anyone confirm this for the article? Thanks! 155.69.192.183 (talk) 05:01, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- You mean like Exile on Main Street and Music From Big Pink? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.88.229.196 (talk) 20:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
- It seems unlikely that she lived there, the Hotel California article lists the recording studios used, Criteria Studios, Miami, FL and Record Plant Studios, Los Angeles, CA. Neither is near Laurel Canyon. I think she could have been confused and that line should be removed. 155.69.193.5 (talk) 01:55, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Lead
Shouldn't there be at least a sentence in the lead about "TiK ToK" since it's coming into the public conscience? Just a thought. 155.69.192.212 (talk) 06:58, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
MOS
So, I've been reading up and nowhere in the MOS do I see anything about non-standard/unusual formatting being disallowed as stated by Nouse4aname.155.69.192.47 (talk) 10:45, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- Don't know if this applies, http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(trademarks), but I guess that means we can refer to Kesha as Ke$ha in the lead and Tik Tok as TiK ToK the first time is appears only. Are those considered trademarks? 155.69.192.47 (talk) 10:49, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- See the requested move section above for further discussion. Essentially the words are rendered according to standard formatting, with a note in the lead along the lines of "Tik Tok" (styled as TiK ToK)... etc etc. Nouse4aname (talk) 11:04, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Single Discography template
http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Kesha_(singer)&oldid=329216935
What's the point in changing the whole code to make it look exactly the same as it was with the standard singles discography template? Seems like Ryan3896490 is waging an edit war. 155.69.192.175 (talk) 09:47, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Judging from his recent edits, seems like he just doesn't know how the code works and only knows how to add information to the table he made, thus the complete and unnecessary overhaul. He's also ignoring a message I left on his user talk page. 155.69.192.175 (talk) 10:09, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Ke$ha or Kesha
Should the infobox and links to this article say Ke$ha or Kesha? ([[Kesha (singer)|Ke$ha]] or [[Kesha (singer)|Kesha]]) -ραncακemisτακe talk 17:08, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- I believe that anything other than her real name should use Ke$ha, since that is her stage name, but it seems everytime I change it, it is reverted without discussion... Ke$ha is her stage name, not Kesha, but her real name Kesha should be used within this article to differentiate her from her mother... - Adolphus79 (talk) 19:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- As per WP:MOSTM we should avoid "using special characters that are not pronounced, are included purely for decoration". Do we say her name as Kesha or Ke-dollar-ha? The "$" is purely for decoration and does not need to be maintained. A simple note (as is already present) regarding the styling of her stage name is all that is required. Nouse4aname (talk) 19:59, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree with this interpretation. In the style guide, it reads: avoid: Macy*s, skate., [ yellow tail ], Se7en, Alien3. Every time I have ever seen her referred to in the press, including the LA Times and the NY Times, her name has been rendered with the dollar sign. Both of these news organizations, by the way, drop the exclamation point from Yahoo! (which Wikipedia preserves) and are generally pretty conservative with their style guides... This is someone's name. I think that word nerds just cringe at the prospect of rendering the dollar sign. Heck, I think it terrible. But I also think it's her name and these are the sacrifices we make for Wikipedia. But don't take my word for it... Let's do a survey! -Dwiki (talk) 18:57, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

(She proabably sang on the demo version, but that doesn't count as the Veronicas covering the song. Reliability/Verifiability of "Official Bio", all material from it
I don't feel like Ke$ha's official artist bio meets verifiability and reliability guidelines under Wikipedia:Reliable_sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability#Reliable sources.
Specifically
- http://ke$hasparty.com is not known for fact checking rigor
- it is a professional marketing tool, which is tantamount to—if not less reliable than—self-publishing
- it has significant reason to misrepresent or fabricate facts in the interests of marketing
- even as an autobiographical source, it
- references a third party
- presents reasons to doubt its authenticity
- is not based on third party publications
Cosmo the third (talk) 01:09, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps linking to the official artist bio via RCARecords.com would be more acceptable? Since it would be better qualified for "fact checking rigor" and would not qualify as self-publishing (?)
- The first and last points do hold, it references a few third parties and seems to be a primary source
- However, I'm not sure how there is reason to doubt its authenticity (it is about Kesha, on Kesha's official website) 155.69.192.97 (talk) 04:12, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Associated acts
Those two acts don't qualify. She's not credited on any of her Flo Rida track appearances and the 3OH!3 track was a one-off collaboration. (I think Right Round should be removed from the career beginnings section for the same reason as well)
Also a grammatical error in the Animal section. ...on the cover on WWD...
And the Metacritic has factored in even more reviews, making her aggregate score "mixed" instead of "generally favourable", perhaps that citation can be removed and "generally favourable" could be corrected to "mixed".

Influence: Uffie?
Surely the similarities with Uffie - as shown between Kesha's TiK ToK and Justice feat. Uffie's The Party - warrant, at least, a recognition of Uffie as an 'influence', if it is too far to say that Kesha is an imitation? 163.1.162.20 (talk) 00:14, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Why would she cite Uffie as an influence? It's more like plagiarism. This article is locked because everyone knows she is just a rip-off of Uffie. Lady Gaga should be getting her 20% as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clintonics (talk • contribs) 08:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Needs a Rewrite.
Mainly section 1.2. Such sentences as 'dabbling in telemarketing', 'crashing with friends', and 'she found and snuck into' bring the standard of the entire article, which is already written in the style of a womens' gossip magazine, down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.16.251.159 (talk) 02:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Non-free image
Why isn't the "Replaceable?" parameter in the non-free rationale is for File:Kesha10.jpg filled out? Because it can easily be replaced with a free image. Non-free images should not be uploaded if a free equivalent could ever exist and that's why they are not accepted in articles for living people, because they are living people. A picture can be taken of them at anytime and released under a free license. We're going to have to wait until a better quality free image exists of Kesha. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. –Scarce ✉ 04:32, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Reverts to article
I am starting a discussion about the article because a user is renaming sections to how he likes and is deleting important information the no one else has objected to for no aparent reason. He hasn't specified why he is doing the so im taking matters into my own hand. If this discussion doesn't leave any where i will be filling a RFC.--Anesleyp (talk) 19:19, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Stop being rude. I had specified from the start that any issues should be taken up in the talk section, only after being told twice have you decided that you should join in (possibly because I reminded you that you have numerous other such cases).
Anyway, if you look at Featured articles, such as Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, you are clearly the one who is naming section out of you own whim and fancy. And from your past behaviour, you seem to always rationalize things as "important" without further elaboration.
I have removed information that does not go under "Artisty" or "Image", Michael Jackson has a very comprehensive "Artistry" section which I modeled that section after. I added in Image to that section because frankly speaking they are the same thing. And obviously if no one else disagrees, you should not assume you are right since you obviously have property issues over articles you like.
A detailed rundown and explanation (not that it will matter to you since you ignore all edit summaries):
- She draws from rap music and old-school punk as well - This could be reverted I admit, but it should be included with examples of artists so that it can go under influences.
- and credits her older brother with exposing her to groups such as Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr. and the Beastie Boys. - I did not remove this.
- Ann Powers of the Los Angeles Times compared this vocal styling to that of L'Trimm and Salt-N-Pepa. - Maybe this could be kept under vocal style.
- Kesha described her music as irreverent and defended her decision to make pop music for Animal as opposed to "more serious acoustic stuff", explaining that she wanted to "give people something that brings them joy." - Does not belong in any of the sections either, could be tweaked to apply to themes of the lyrics perhaps.
- She stated that the title track of the album, which emulates the music of Flaming Lips and Arcade Fire, is the direction she would like to pursue on her next record. - This is information on the future of her music, does not belong in a section on her current musical style, so I omitted it.
- She has expressed interest in releasing a country music album in the future because of her love for the genre. - As above
- Her stage makeup is characterized by dramatic makeup at her right eye, inspired by Stanley Kubrick's film, A Clockwork Orange.[32] - Does not fit in any of the categories, maybe fashion but that is a stretch.
- Asked about being compared to Lady Gaga and other artists, Kesha said "[a]ny time you want to compare me to a successful woman, I'll totally take that."[33] - This is not relevant to her image or artistry.
- She has been noted for her party girl image and behaviour. - I improved this with the new quote, you obviously had a panic attack when you saw different, and failed to read the article properly.
- Paul Lester of The Guardian called her "the degenerate Hannah Montana" and stated that "her whole shtick appears to be predicated on the idea that she's a rebel in American Apparel." - Adressed and improved in the new quote of critics description of Kesha.
- She has said that she was on a "fighting a war against pretension" and that she felt people could "take themselves just a little less seriously." - Again this was adequetely and better adressed in the new quote.
- When asked about being a role model, Kesha said that people could look up to her in some aspects, but not everything. "I do think it's an important thing that happiness and the amount of money you have are mixed. There's absolutely no correlation, because the happiest times of my entire life have been when I didn't have $2." - This is a dubious quote on a dubious matter.
- On the dollar sign in her stage name, Kesha states that she was being ironic, in that she does not believe in placing an emphasis on earning money. It came about after her Flo Rida collaboration achieved success worldwide; and yet she did not receive any money to show for it. - Again, I doubt you read the article that was changed at all, this was put into her Life and career, please do read when making such bitter accusations and drastic reverts.
Kesha's first tattoo was that of an anchor given to her in Cuba. - None of the above Featured articles are hung up on tattoos, mostly lower tiered articles are the one that have tattoo counts and whatnot.
As discussed above there are some things that should be reverted. But it could have been done from the start if you had actually gone to the talk page without you calling it crap from the start and continuing to be rude. I will restore the things that I believe should be restored, the sections to their proper format. Next time please read. Fixer23 (talk) 22:46, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- The reverting is done, if you want any of the above restored, rationalize it here before adding it on a one-by-one basis, you seem to be averse to using edit summaries for what they are "summaries of your edits" unless you are forced to or want to flame someone else. Fixer23 (talk) 22:57, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Response: Not only do I see anything wrong with Fixer23's contributions, I find them to be a significant improvement to the article. Technically there's no need to revert this at all, as all relevant information and references are still contained on the page. The only major difference is the way the article is structured regarding its sections. And the structure here is a lot better than what it was previously, following the same patter as other artists' articles previously mentioned. Percxyz (Call me Percy, it's easier) 23:27, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok i admit that your edits are of good faith. And see where your coming from.BUT this article does not have to have the exact same sections as Micheal Jackson and others. The image and artristy section does not have enough information to be split up like that.I suggest (even though you probably won't listen) that when more information of Ke$ha come out that you split up the image and artristy becuase as i stated above, there isn't that much info to be split apart.--Anesleyp (talk) 21:55, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
- So anyway, my culling was reverted once again. The section as it stands now is extremely bloated with excessive information (not to mention with some pretty bad format and grammar). If you see the corresponding section at Michael Jackson, it is concise and does not have detailed synopsis and reviews of particular songs that in any case are already included in the song and album articles. Contrary to what above user claims, there are a lot of unsourced claims in his version.
And also this user is still resorting to snide remarks as above. And in any case, Michael Jackson has had a lengthier career by far, there is no way a singer on her first album would have a longer section. Obviously there won't be enough information, you adding in useless information does not help. Volume does not equate to quality, what you are doing is just adding unneeded bytes to the article. I'll leave the article as it is now with the fact tags and wait for someone else to do as they deem fit. Fixer23 (talk) 23:37, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Stop reverting each others edits. Either the page needs to be protected or you two should be blocked for edit warring. Agree on something before your next edit. –Scarce ✉ 23:40, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Why don't you comment on the situation? It would be greatly appreciated. Fixer23 (talk) 23:44, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think the sections are fine they way they are right now but the article could use a rewrite. I also think "Image and artistry" has too many subsections. –Scarce ✉ 00:49, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
