Name Origin

[edit]

The website I referenced is no longer online, so I found a Wayback Machine capture of it from 2005. Using Google Translate this gives us roughly "Quite common in Finistère, designates someone who comes from one of the many hamlets or localities called Kerbrat in this department. Meaning: the hamlet, the village (ker) of the meadow (prat)". Searching the Finistère region for "kerbrat" on a mapping website can turn up multiple entries for places called "Kerbrat".
