History notes
[edit]By no means complete, but it's a start:
- 1938 ALA Green Book and 1939 state map has west end of KY 80 at US 31W east of Bowling Green - alignment east of that point is more or less the same as today, save for local realignments
- what later became KY 80 was KY 98 west of Aurora and US 68 between Aurora and Bowling Green
- KY 80 extended west to Columbus between 1949 (RMcN map of KY and TN) and 1957, replacing KY 98 and overlapping US 68 between Aurora and Bowling Green
- 2000s Mayfield-Murray-Aurora realignment, based on the change logs of the Marshall, Graves, and Calloway County SPRS listings:
- July 18, 2002: KY 80 renumbered to KY 402 from KY 58 in Brewers (former ET of overlap) to US 68 in Aurora, splitting KY 80 in two
- February 28, 2005: new KY 80 in Marshall County and part of new KY 80 in Calloway County (US 641 to county line[2]) accepted into system, replacing a short section of KY 94 near Aurora between the east end of the new road and US 68
- June 4, 2008: new KY 80 in Graves County and part of new KY 80 in Calloway County (county line to KY 1836[3]) accepted into system
- February 18, 2010: part of new KY 80 in Calloway County (KY 1836 to US 641) accepted into system
- article says the last segment opened November 25, 2009, but doesn't provide a source for it – TMF 08:21, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Here's a news article backing it up: [4] – TMF 08:27, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
