Original authorship

[edit]

Mar4d, the content you used to create the stub feels familiar, and it is the kind of language that only socks use, including the WP:CITEKILL in the lead paragraph. Who wrote this originally? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 07:53, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kautilya3: I don't know which sock you are referring to, but the first and third paragraph including the sources are my work. The second one is from Kashmiri diaspora as attributed in the edit summary. Regarding the WP:CITEKILL, all of them are references which can be used for further expansion and easily available if you search for the subject. Mar4d (talk) 09:24, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious labels

[edit]

As I have mentioned in one of my edit summaries, the Pakistani sources are using the term "Kashmiri" for any one from Jammu and Kashmir. Since this page has been created specifically for "ethnic Kashmiris", we need evidence that the sources are speaking about "ethnic Kashmiris" before their content can be admitted. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 07:35, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kautilya3: The source which you mentioned as 'dubious' is unambiguously clear that there was Kashmiri migration which occurred during the mentioned conflict periods. Even if we accept that there were other refugees amongst these people, we can't use that to deny the Kashmiri refugees who crossed the LoC, for that would be improper WP:SYNTH and contrary to the situation on the ground. Christopher Snedden has explained the confused mess of terminology that exists regarding Kashmir and Kashmiris. Since this page is dealing with "ethnic Kashmiris", please limit your sources to those that talk about "ethnic Kashmiris". You cannot assume that every occurrence of "Kashmiri" in every source refers to "ethnic Kashmiris".
Alternatively, you are welcome to change the scope of this page to deal with all "Kashmiris", i.e., people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. Then we would have no problems of ambiguity or SYNTH. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:01, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
