First of all, WP:SELF is about selfreferencing the project. But that's not the page you linked to, you linked to WP:ABOUTME, which is neither policy, nor a guideline, but instead, as the page itself says is an essay which contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines,. You are probably looking for WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY which only strongly discourages writing one.
